Ted Barrus
Ted Barrus, is a YouTuber that reviewed obscure super-hot chilies, sauces, snacks, and disgusting food products in the early to mid-2000s, gaining him a good number of subscribers and doing videos with other YouTubers that produced videos of the same genre at the time of this cultural boom (Extreme eating and chili head content). He had series such as beer time with Ted, what grinds my gears, gross food reviews, a large collection of Chili reviews, hot sauce reviews, soda reviews, beer reviews, obscure and funny videos of him and his friends trying these things, and more. He sent the LA beast some to try in November of 2013 and was one of the suppliers of super-hot chilies to YouTubers around this time. Ted Barrus was featured on news broadcasts in 2012 and 2018 and featured in some other distinguished places, including articles about him smoking a Carolina reaper out of a bong. Ted Barrus provided much nostalgia and a new look into the dynamic and intoxicating lifestyle of eating rare chilies and appreciating the small-time businesses that produce hot sauces, leading many into a life of appreciating the culture behind chili festivals and small-time local hot sauce shops and businesses releasing new products.
Ted Barrus had a plethora of content until tragically, Youtube terminated his channel for multiple strikes, ranging from supposedly copyrighted music, to vomiting on camera too many times, plus some other reasons that aren't elucidated. In 2020 he started to release some of the videos he had saved to a re-upload channel and daily motion. Tedbarrus has now disappeared and deleted all of his social media, some believe he is dead because of rumors spreading and an obituary that showed up and was promptly removed, stating at 45 he drowned in a camping accident and that he was missing for a year. Some claim that it was possible he committed suicide, but this is all yet to be truly confirmed.
