Last year’s Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles performed so well at the box office on its opening weekend, that Paramount announced its sequel before a director or cast had been set. It’s expected many of the cast will return, but now we have our first new addition.
Variety are reporting that Arrow star Stephen Amell has landed the role of Casey Jones, having beaten out several other actors who screen tested for the role with Megan Fox over the weekend. No word yet on who the other actors were. Amell himself seemingly also confirmed it via Twitter:

Following last week's addition of Alessandra Ambrosio to the cast of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 as a seemingly inexplicable love interest for cameraman Vernon Fenwick (Will Arnett), the sequel has lined up a new supporting star taking a role that will have fans pretty excited. Variety has learned that "Arrow" series star Stephen Amell has taken the role of the hockey-masked crime fighter and turtle ally Casey Jones. The trade reports Amell tested for the role with about six other actors over the weekend, and it was his chemistry with Megan Fox as April O'Neil that convinced the studio he was right for the job. Read on! If his chemistry with Fox was key, then there must be some kind of romantic sparks flying for these two. While I'm glad to hear Casey Jones will be in this sequel (even though I'm skeptical of the quality after hating the »

Arrow star Stephen Amell has signed on to play Casey Jones in Paramount's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. Producer Andrew Form revealed back in December that they are "trying to fit" the Casey Jones character into the sequel, which will also include beloved villains such as Bebop and Rocksteady. Casey Jones was originally played by Elias Koteas in the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
Variety reports that Stephen Amell tested with a half-dozen other actors over the weekend, but it was his chemistry with Megan Fox, who is returning as April O'Neil, that won him the part. Will Arnett is also returning as Vern Fenwick, who was spotted over the weekend shooting scenes for the sequel with Alessandra Ambrosio. The supermodel is playing Vern's new love interest as herself. No other cast members have been confirmed at this time, but it is believed that Alan Ritchson (Raphael), Noel Fisher (Michelangelo »
We’re starting to get dribs and drabs of news about Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2, which has begun at least early filming without much ballyhoo. A couple of days ago, word of supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio joining the film arrived and now we have someone who has a higher profile – in geeky circles, at least – Stephen Amell will be Casey Jones. Amell, currently to be seen as Oliver Queen on the DC TV series Arrow, is set to play the popular Turtles character, a hockey-masked vigilante who ends up helping our heroes in a half-shell and becoming a flirty love interest for April O’Neil (Megan Fox, who is returning to the film alongside Will Arnett). Not much else is known about the film at this time, in terms of story – the script is again by writers Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec – and we don’t yet know if any »
Whoever thought Alessandra Ambrosio was just a model better think again! E! News can confirm the Victoria's Secret supermodel will make her big-screen debut in the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2. Although the 33-year-old beauty had a blink-and-you'll-miss-it kind of cameo in Casino Royale, her latest project will mark her first big-screen speaking role. The confirmation from Paramount Studios comes after the model was photographed hanging out with co-star Will Arnett at Madison Square Garden last week. While the New York Knicks took on the Los Angeles Clippers, a camera crew was filming the pair who was spotted kissing and laughing together. Fast-forward to today when we learn »
Whether you loved or loathed the gang’s latest big-screen adventure, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 has been given the go-ahead by Paramount with a June, 2016 release date in mind. It’s not an overly surprising move, really, considering that the live-action flick pulled in box office receipts to the tune of $477 million last year. And so, with production set to get underway, there have been murmurings regarding the sequel’s title, which is said to drop the numeral in favor of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Half-Shell.
The speculative tidbit comes hand in hand with some casting news for the follow-up, with supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio (Gossip Girl and Entourage) joining the line-up as Will Arnett’s (who plays bumbling cameraman Vernon Fenwick) new-fangled love interest.

There has been little buzz around the fact that Paramount is pushing ahead with a sequel to last year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. But the studio, looking to capitalise on the $485 million worldwide box office of the reboot, has the cameras rolling with Earth To Echo’s Dave Green directing. We know that Will Arnett will be back as smarmy cameraman Vernon Fenwick and The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Victoria’s Secret supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio is set to join him as the character’s new girlfriend.Little else is known about the film, besides the fact that Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec have once again written the script, which, one assumes finds Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello and Michelangelo (and, most likely Megan Fox's April O'Neil) back to battle the forces of evil. Reports have pointed to classic ‘toon/comics franchise mutants Bebop and Rocksteady making an appearance.Ambrosio, »

If you saw the reboot of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles last year and thought that it needed more supermodels, then you are in luck. THR reports that Victoria's Secret model Alessandra Ambrosio is taking a role in the forthcoming sequel from Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes. I can't help but think that this is Michael Bay's doing as one of the producers of the new franchise, especially since the director gave another Victoria's Secret model, Rosie Huntington-Whitely, her big screen debut in Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Megan Fox is already playing April O'Neil, so who is Ambrosio playing? Ambrosio will be playing a new love interest for Will Arnett, which doesn't seem insanely far-fetched for Arnett in real life, but for his cameraman character Vernon Fenwick, it's a bit of a stretch. Apparently Ambrosio and Arnett were recently photographed kissing at a New York Knicks game a couple days ago, »

According to J.J. Redick of the Los Angeles Clippers, while on Grantland’s The Lowe Post podcast, the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel movie will be titled “Half-Shell.” I guess there’s a basketball scene with Redick, Austin Rivers, Matt Barnes, Spencer Hawes, and DeAndre Jordan, and five New York Knicks players. Maybe the Clippers play the Knicks at Msg in the sequel. Maybe the turtles will play some NBA players or some bullshit like that. Take a listen yourself (about the 00:45 mark) below. David Green will direct. Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec returned to write. The sequel stars William Fichtner, Will Arnett, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Megan Fox as April [ Read More ]
