This weekend, Universal Pictures and Legendary will release their epic video game adaptation Warcraft in theaters. Even if you're just vaguely familiar with the game, you'll certainly know that it's set in an expansive universe that has captivated gamers for over two decades. Before this massive adventure comes to the big screen, fans can get even more insight into the story with a new graphic novel, Warcraft: Bonds of Brotherhood, debuting June 7, which serves as the official prequel to this upcoming movie.

Warcraft: Bonds of Brotherhood shows how three of Azeroth's greatest champions forged their first alliance. In a fantasy action epic set decades before the film, the young and headstrong Llane, Lothar, and Medivh embark on a mission of vengeance that will forge them into heroes... the kind of heroes Azeroth will need in its darkest hour. 28 May 2016 10:07 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

A few of the major movie sites around the Internet have published advanced reviews for Warcraft, which do not paint it in a favorable light. Most call it a movie made for gamers only, and some have hinted at a big summer flop. Directed by the late David Bowie's son Duncan Jones, Warcraft arrives from Legendary and Universal Pictures as yet another video game adaptation in a market that has not been favorable to them. The movie took in $9.3M on Thursday, invading a total of 20 markets. The movie is currently #1 at the foreign box office in 19 of those, defying expectations all around. Review: High-fantasy 'Warcraft' can't shake game-to-movie adaptation problems

26 May 2016 7:00 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Today I turned 46 years old. I’m not sure if that’s too old for me to play video games. I certainly hope not, since I find them relaxing in a way that is valuable to me. Then again, I’m not sure who gets to decide if they are or aren’t appropriate, since I’m part of the first generation to be able to grow up playing games. I was there for Pong and Space Invaders and Asteroids and Pac-Man, and I was there for the first consoles at home. I’ve been a fan as long as there have been video games, and I remain a devoted fan of gaming in general even if I don’t always love the culture around it. What I find strange is how completely and utterly I have somehow avoided World Of Warcraft. Unlike films, where I find that I’m open to pretty much anything, »

Overwatch Review

26 May 2016 7:12 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

When Blizzard senior vice president Chris Metzen took the stage for the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2014, he showcased a flurry of emotions. He seemed alternately terrified and elated, and his relief after playing the first trailer for Overwatch was palpable. At the time, the cynic in me wondered if his display was genuine or if he was just hamming it up for the crowd. Now that I’ve played the game for myself, the truth is clear: he must have known he was unveiling something truly special to the world.

Overwatch is Blizzard’s first attempt at the shooter genre, and their first new property in nearly two decades. Taking objective elements from games like Team Fortress 2 and the idea of heroes and abilities from MOBAs, the game attempts a new fusion that the creators are calling a “hero shooter.” At its core, the game gives you 21 characters in »
