'Avengers' Director Joss Whedon Kills Monsters For Kids In 'Scary Smash'

After “Buffy” and “Firefly” and “Dr. Horrible” and “The Avengers,” we didn’t think it was possible to love Joss Whedon any more than we already did. We were wrong.

Mr. Whedon has surprised and delighted us once again with his portrayal of Gerald, a white-hat-wearing, monster-fighting hero in “Scary Smash,” the first installment of a new YouTube series called “Written By A Kid.” Check it out below!

Tom Lenk, who worked with Whedon on “Buffy The Vampire Slayer” and “Much Ado About Nothing,” told MTV News recently, “Sometimes I think he should be a full-time actor [as well as all the other stuff he does].” After seeing “Scary Smash,” we heartily agree.

Just yesterday we mentioned the new series on Geek & Sundry called "Written by a Kid", and now we have the first episode, "Scary Smash", in its entirety right here for you to check out!

The summer roster for Felicia Day’s Geek & Sundry, a multimedia company and hit premium YouTube channel dedicated to the best of indie geek entertainment, includes "Written by a Kid" (premiering July 18th with new episodes every Wednesday).

Synopsis:

Original sci-fi, fantasy, and horror stories by real kids are transformed into stunning shorts by some of today's coolest directors. The series premieres with “Scary Smash” directed by Daniel Strange, in which S.Q.U.A.T. team (you read that right) commander Gerald (Joss Whedon) engages in an Epic battle against a monster. We know a lot of our readers are big Felicia Day fans so we thought we'd update you on the latest news out of Comic-Con with regard to her Geek & Sundry YouTube channel, especially since it involves a new horror project: "Written by a Kid".
