Jacques Canetti was born on May 30, 1909 in Ruse, Bulgaria. He was married to Lucienne, Torres. He died on June 7, 1997 in Suresnes, Hauts-de-Seine, France.
In 1963, he founded his own production company, "Les Productions Jacques Canetti", and record label, "Disques Jacques Canetti".
His spouse, Lucienne Torres (12 December 1919 - 23 March 1981), made a career as a singer-songwriter under the name of Lucienne Vernay.
An avenue is named after him in Suresnes (Hauts-de-Seine), the commune where he died. In 2013, the Promenade Jacques Canetti was opened in Paris, opposite "Les Trois Baudets".
Brother of Elias Canetti (Nobel Prize in Literature in 1981) and Georges Canetti (a microbiologist specialized in tuberculosis).
