With a release less than two weeks away, developer CD Projekt Red has released a new video diary for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which pulls back the curtain on some of the monsters and enemies that you’ll fight in-game.
This developer diary, which you can watch above, details some of the design and gameplay decisions the development team decided to implement, along with the task of creating monsters by carefully blending fantasy with realism.
This process is detailed by character artist Bill Daly, while gameplay designer Damien Monnier and animator Jamie Bury discuss how Geralt will track down and eliminate the creatures within The Witcher 3’s vast world. You can also catch a glimpse of Geralt taking on flying Harpies and underwater Drowners.

The National Hockey League dealt another blow to fans Friday (Nov. 23), canceling all games through Dec. 14 and abandoning the All-Star game scheduled for Jan. 27, 2013, in Columbus, Ohio.
The newest cuts bring the total number of games canceled to 422, or 34 percent of the regular season. The NHL and its players union are currently in Day 69 of a lockout over proposed changes to player contract rights and revenue sharing.
"The reality of losing more regular-season games as well as the 2013 NHL All-Star Weekend in Columbus is extremely disappointing," said NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly in a statement. "We feel badly for NHL fans and particularly those in Columbus, and we intend to work closely with the Blue Jackets organization to return the NHL All-Star events to Columbus and their fans as quickly as possible."
In response, the National Hockey League Players Association (Nhpla) issued their own statement:

Hockey fans will have to wait a little longer to see their favorite teams take the ice again. The National Hockey League announces the 2012-2013 regular season schedule has been canceled through Nov. 30 2012, as the league and the players continue to duke it out over a collective bargaining agreement.
In a news release, NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly expressed his disappointment. "The National Hockey League deeply regrets having to take this action," says Daly. Rather than blaming the players, the commish acknowledges the NHL's role in the collective bargaining process.
"We remain committed to achieving an agreement that is fair for the Players and the Clubs," Daly says, "one that will be good for the game and our fans." Meanwhile, with no end in sight to the standoff between the league and its players, and no clear winner in sight, the fans continue to lose.

For the second time in less than two months, we saw one of our TV heroes, Bob Newhart, live in person. We were thrilled to see Bob present the Impact Award to the cast of Everybody Loves Raymond at the TV Land Awards this past Saturday.
During the presentation, he talked about the luck of finding the perfect chemistry in a cast. He spoke of Darryl and his other brother Darryl like they were (real) old friends, and recalled the first time he met them.
We recently edited an interview with Bob that he did with the Archive of American Television. During the piece he talked about admiring and respecting all the actors he worked with on his two network TV shows — The Bob Newhart Show and Newhart.
In this clip, he talks about casting The Bob Newhart Show with Suzanne Pleshette, Bill Daly, Marcia Wallace, and the gang. Truly...

Irish President Mary McAleese hailed the long association between Ireland and Hollywood while highlighting the latest round of financial boosts for filming in Ireland during a state visit to Warner Bros. Studios in Burbank on Monday night.
McAleese included her Hollywood visit as part of a larger California tour to boost Ireland's profile on the West Coast. The event at Warner Bros. was organized by the Irish Film Board and Enterprise Ireland. McAleese quipped that so popular have Hollywood films been in Ireland for so long that she suspected her children would prefer her to be president of Warner Bros. rather than president of Ireland.
Jonathan Loughran of the Irish Film Board's Los Angeles office noted that the presidential visit came at an important and exciting time for the Irish film industry.
"Our indigenous film sector is booming with 25 feature films funded this year alone by the Ifb and on the incoming production side,...
