Justice League’s Ray Fisher joins True Detective Season 3

True Detective season 3 continues to flesh out its already impressive cast with some new additions, most notably Justice League‘s Ray Fisher, who’ll play the son of Mahershala Ali’s Wayne Hays, a state police detective from Northwest Arkansas who’s investigating the decades spanning case of two missing children in the heart of the Ozarks.

Also joining the series main players – Mahershala Ali, Carmen Ejogo, Stephen Dorff, Scoot McNairy and Mamie Gummer – will be Fear the Walking Dead‘s Michael Greyeyes, Home & Away star Rhys Wakefield, and veteran TV actor Jon Tenny.

Nic Pizzolatto will act as showrunner for True Detective 3, and is the sole writer of all episodes of the run, aside from episode 4, which he co-wrote with David Milch (NYPD Blue, Deadwood). Pizzolatto will also make his directorial debut alongside Green Room‘s Jeremy Saulnier.

As HBO prepares its third season of True Detective, it has added yet another cast member. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mamie Gummer (The Good Wife) has joined the season in a significant role. She will portray Lucy Purcell, a mother of two at the centre of a tragic crime.

The actress has been cast in the upcoming third season of HBO’s anthology drama True Detective, per THR.com. She’ll play Lucy Purcell, a mother of two children who finds herself involved in a crime.

Season 3 takes place in the Ozark Mountains and centers on a terrible crime as well as a mystery that plays out in three time periods. A movie dramatizing the life of William Ralph “Dixie” Dean, one of England’s most legendary soccer stars, will shoot later this year. Dean will be played by Toby Kebbell (“Planet of the Apes”) and the picture will take in his career, his little-known struggle with mental-health issues, and how his family, notably his daughter Barbara, helped him cope.

Barbara is a consultant on the picture and said she hopes it will celebrate her father’s achievements as well as shine a light on mental-health issues, which were a taboo topic in Dixie’s time. “There was no help for me as there was such a stigma back then, but I hope this film can help others,” she said. “My father was a hero but I’ve kept his secret for a long time. I buried it. It was something my mother, Ethel, and I kept close to our hearts.”

The third season of True Detective continues to build up its cast as Godless actor Scoot McNairy has signed on to appear in HBO’s anthology series, reports Deadline. He’ll star opposite Mahershala Ali (Moonlight), Carmen Ejogo (Selma) and Stephen Dorff (Blade).

McNairy will portray Tom, a father who suffers a terrible loss that ties his fate to that of two state police detectives over 10 years. Ali will portray State Investigator Wayne Hays and Dorff his partner Roland West. The third season will focus on a crime in the heart of the Ozarks, with the mystery playing out in three separate time periods.

McNairy is coming off the final season of AMC’s Halt and Catch Fire and recently completed The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter with Josh Brolin and Danny McBride.

The cast list for season 3 of the HBO series, True Detective is starting to fill out with the latest name to join the cast announced as Fargo and Godless actor Scoot McNairy.

McNairy will play Tom, a father who suffers a terrible loss that ties his fate to that of two state police detectives over 10 years. Dorff will play the role of the Arkansas State Investigator Roland West, the partner of Ali’s Wayne Hays who is a Northwest Arkansas state police detective.
