Yesterday we brought you our interview with stuntman turned horror icon Nick King, who plays the creepy Bughuul in the Sinister film series. Today we bring you our interview with the man behind the other original character returning for Sinister 2, James Ransone, better known to Sinister fans as Deputy So & So.
Ransone, who in the first film was credited simply as ‘Deputy’, gets a longer title as well as tackling the challenge of leading the second story as he steps into the shoes vacated by indie legend Ethan Hawke. First time around his Deputy was on hand to help stop Hawke’s true-writer Ellison Oswalt from going insane at the hands of the monstrous Bughuul. Those that have seen the first film will know that sadly things don’t quite work out for Oswalt and the sequel sees the Ransone’s Deputy, now »

Sinister 2, 2015.
Directed by Ciarán Foy.
A mother and her two sons unwittingly fall into the killing pattern of the demonic Bughuul.
2012’s Sinister was something of a commercial hit, landing in amongst a plethora of supernatural horror movies such as Insidious, The Conjuring and The Possession. Quite why it was such a success remains as mysterious as its masked antagonist because in truth it was a paper-thin plot about a supernatural killer that was needlessly convoluted and stretched out to nearly two hours during which not a lot happens. So now we have Sinister 2 and an opportunity to correct all of the first film’s faults to make a more rounded and coherent supernatural thriller, right? Um… not really.
Following the events of the first film, so-called Deputy »

Back in 2012 mega horror production house Blumhouse Productions, headed by Jason Blum, introduced the world to a new horror villain, Bughuul. Bughuul was the malevolent force that tormented Ethan Hawke and his family in the creepy film Sinister.
This week the sneaky spirit is back once more, this time setting his sights on the young son of Shannyn Sossamon in Sinister 2. Last time around Bughuul made a impression with his startling visual and his ability to materialise out of nowhere, inducing trauma in audience members across the globe. For the most part though Bughuul, aka Mr Boogie, was shrouded in mystery, something that the new film seeks to unravel.
Ever wanted to know what it’s like to play a horror villain? Well now’s your chance as we sat down with stuntman Nicholas King, who has played the iconic monster in both films. »

Horror’s newest anti-hero, Bughuul (Nicholas King), is back, and he’s got more screen time than when horror audiences first met him in 2012’s “Sinister.” There, he was a briefly glimpsed apparition, a fleeting and genuinely unsettling presence, instigating an inexorable descent into doom for true-crime author Ethan Hawke and his family. In this sequel, Bughuul is fully visible, and we can count the buttons on his funereal black suit. For the sake of branding that spurs action-figure sales, this probably makes good sense. But for the sake of horror, it’s a case of familiarity breeding boredom. See »

Bughuul is back, and this time he’s targeting a new family. A young mother and her sons move to a rural farmhouse, where strange and ominous things begin to happen. Sure enough, horrifying footage of gruesome deaths is soon found, and the whole nasty cycle is set in motion again. Main takeaway here: be very careful about moving into rural farmhouses.
