Cara Delevingne Is Picture-Perfect in 3-Way Rap Battle on Late Late Show

28 July 2016 5:26 AM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

CBS’ The Late Late Show just may have solved its “Drop the Mic” problem — in that half the jokes were about James Corden’s weight, yawn — by adding a third front to the rap battle.

On Wednesday night’s Thursday morning’s telecast, Corden traded beat-laden verbal beat-downs with not just model/actress Cara Delevingne (who has a role in the upcoming Suicide Squad), but also actor Dave Franco. That makes for a greater variety of zingers, (playfully) poking fun at Delevingne’s acting chops, Franco being Scrubs‘ cause of death and… well, yeah, Corden being a shorter, stockier James Bond. »

The MTV Video Music Awards Nominations Still Skimp On Electronic

27 July 2016 10:03 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

It’s hard to imagine MTV holding the interest of anyone over the age of 16, but these days they don’t even come across as being in touch enough for the younger demographic. This year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) nominees have been announced, and for the most part the network seems intent on shoving the same artists down our throats that it did five years ago.

You can count the DJ/producers nominated for VMAs in 2016 on one hand: Calvin Harris, 99 Souls, Afrojack, Alesso and The Chainsmokers. Even Skrillex and SeeB’s names were left curiously absent from the nominations for Justin Bieber’s “Sorry” and Mike Posner’s “I Took A Pill In Ibiza,” respectively, even though the latter song marks Posner’s first relevant single since 2011.

As its growth has run parallel to the proliferation of streaming services, electronic music simply isn’t a cash crop »

Apple Music Buys ‘Carpool Karaoke’ TV Series

26 July 2016 12:30 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Apple has emerged as the surprise buyer of the unscripted TV series based on the “Carpool Karaoke” segment of CBS’ “The Late Late Show with James Corden.”

The tech giant’s Apple Music service will distribute the series to its members in 100 countries worldwide. Apple sees the show as a natural vehicle to drive online activity for its streaming-music venture.

“Carpool Karaoke” segments, in which Corden drives around in a compact car with a musician or celebrity singing hit songs, has been a spur for sales and streaming activity for the songs featured in the segments — which made it a natural acquisition for Apple Music. The show sparked a bidding war among cable and subscription VOD outlets because of the segments have been such viral sensations for “Late Late Show,” which impressed by nabbing an Emmy nomination for talk-variety show in its first year of eligibility.

Will James Corden Name His Least Favorite Carpool? Or Eat [Spoiler]??

The Late Late Show kicked off the week with an encore of “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts,” in which James Corden and Bad Mom guests Christina Applegate and Mila Kunis took turns answering very personal questions… or consuming unsavory food/drink.

And the stakes were only up-chucked upped by the fact that Applegate is a vegetarian, and some of the items were very much not. So just the idea of some of what’s placed before her has her looking green.

As if Michelle Obama wasn’t a big enough get for “Carpool Karaoke,” James Corden also coaxed Missy Elliott into his Range Rover on Wednesday.
