It was while filming tests in 1996 for Darren Aronofsky's "Pi" that Frankie DeMarco invented the "Ultra 16" format. A 16mm film format that uses regular 16mm cameras and lenses but creates a film image slightly bigger than Regular 16mm and just slightly smaller than Super 16mm.
