Philip Fleishman

Philip Fleishman is a writer/producer, and documentary journalist. He began his career as a film editor for the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. (CBC). He later transitioning to television production where he wrote and produced multiple hours of documentary and variety programming. He was nominated for a Peabody award for one of his docs.
As a contributing Editor for McLean's Magazine, Philip conducted the last interview with Golda Meir which was followed by exclusive interviews with such luminaries as Bob Dylan, Federico Fellini, Louis Malle, Rev. Billy Graham, Mel Brooks, Rudolf Nureyev, Henry Moore, Marcel Marceau, Richard Prior, I.B. Singer, Erica Jong, and Elie Wiesel among others. All were syndicated internationally for broadcast and print.
Philip produced award winning albums, for CBS Records' Masterworks division. He expanded to produce music concert features for Sony Music, Warner Music Group and Attic Records. One such film, "9012LIVE", featuring the band YES, was nominated for a Grammy Award and was directed by Academy Award winner Steven Soderbergh.
While still producing television programs, Philip attended Osgoode Hall Law School specializing in Entertainment and Media law. In conjunction with his company Premiere Motion Picture Corp., Philip produced programming for such exhibitors as Home Box Office, Showtime, City Television, First Choice Television, Superchannel and the British Broadcasting Corporation.
Philip co-founded Magnetic North Corporation, a television and film post production facility. He later co-founded a second post company, Command Post and Transfer Corp. (a.k.a. ToyBox), formerly one of Canada's largest television and film post/VFX companies. Its projects included such features as X-Men, Chicago, Panic Room, and Fight Club. Command Post/Toybox was acquired by Technicolor.
Several years ago, Philip and Steven Soderbergh formed a partnership, Transactional Pictures of NY LP. Transactional is developing and has produced a number of film and television projects including three seasons of the Girlfriend Experience for STARZ Entertainment.
