Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams Sign Up for a 'Blue Valentine'

12 May 2009 4:32 PM, PDT | From Cinematical.com | See recent Cinematical news

News first broke about Blue Valentine back in 2007, with the quite unique and distinct plot of "a couple whose relationship is jeopardized when they find themselves in different places in their lives." We're getting only a wee bit more now, two years later, as the film jumped out of ThinkFilm and finally hits production, but at least it's matched with leads who will make it interesting.

Variety reports that Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams have signed on to star in the indie drama, which will follow a couple in a failing marriage. "As their relationship hits the rocks, they recall better days." Derek Cianfrance, who will direct, penned the script with Cami Delavigne and Joey Curtis, while Mike Vogel, John Doman, and Maryann Plunkett fill in the rest of the cast.

At this rate, Gosling will run through all of Hollywood's blondes in no time -- Rachel McAdams, Kirsten Dunst,

Ryan Gosling And Michelle Williams To Explore Relationships In ‘Blue Valentine’

12 May 2009 7:00 AM, PDT | From MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news

Ever since “The Notebook,” Ryan Gosling has topped a lot of “dreamiest most perfect heartthrob” lists, an image he refuses to encourage with edgier roles such as “Half Nelson,” “Lars and the Real Girl” and the upcoming “All Good Things.” However, his female fans may have a reason to haul out the Kleenex once again thanks to “Blue Valentine.”

According to Variety, Gosling has signed on to star in the indie drama with Michelle Williams. The plot as detailed on IMDb is a simple one: the two indie darlings play a couple who are coming up on their ten year wedding anniversary. Their marriage isn’t what it once was however, and as their relationship crumbles they recall the better days of their love affair. The film will jump between various years of their life together. Will the couple’s trip down memory lane only speed up the divorce, or

Blue Valentine For Gosling & Williams

12 May 2009 12:25 AM, PDT | From EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news

Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams are set to play a couple whose relationship is on the rocks in Blue Valentine, our second Valentine story of the day (after this one). The duo play a married couple whose pairing appears to be failing, causing them to reflect on happier times in the past. Presumably it's not a very long past, given the relative youth of both stars, but at least that reduces the number of flashbacks requiring bad wigs or '80s outfits. Also in the cast are Mike Vogel, of Cloverfield and Poseidon fame; John Doman (The Wire's Rawls) and Maryann Plunkett (The Squid and the Whale; Center Stage). The film was written by Derek Cianfrance, Cami Delavigne and Joey Curtis, with Cianfrance set to direct as well. He has a background in music videos and documentaries, for the most part, after making an auspicious Sundance debut with his short film Brother Tied.

With filming already under way, some big casting updates have gone down for the indie drama Blue Valentine. While I'd never consider Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams to be late additions to any cast, there you have it.

Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams Set for 'Blue Valentine'

11 May 2009 9:52 PM, PDT | From Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news

I smell an indie film that will soon be making waves at film festivals and perhaps tearing up the award seasons as Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams are already filming the indie drama Blue Valentine in New York and Pennsylvania. Mike Vogel, John Doman and Maryann Plunkett round out the cast. The film, which was written by Derek Cianfrance, Cami Delavigne and Joey Curtis centers on a couple (Gosling and Williams) whose marriage is failing, and as their relationship hits the rocks, they recall better days. Cianfrance is directing. William Morris Independent and Endeavor are co-repping U.S. distribution rights, and Hyde Park Intl. is selling international territories at the Cannes Film Festival. Gosling is expected to be seen in All Good Things on July 24, a romance/mystery co-starring Kirsten Dunst, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kristen Wiig and Frank Langella, but considering it is a Weinstein Co. release that may change

The Deaths Of Ian Stone (Horrorfest II Flashback Review)

29 March 2009 3:25 AM, PDT | From Fangoria.com | See recent Fangoria news

The Deaths Of Ian Stone (part of 2007’s After Dark Horrorfest II) begins unpromisingly, joining its title character (played by Mike Vogel) in the midst of a hockey game, with pounding music and lots of fast cuts that seem to earmark this as just another flashy, trendy youth film. A little later, after Ian has suffered the first of his many demises, he spots a sinister character whose head vibrates in that Jacob’S Ladder manner which suggests the movie will end with a familiar, predictable twist. Rest assured: It doesn’t, and it’s a little more thoughtful than that flashy opener would indicate as well. Stan Winston’s latest venture as a producer doesn’t fully satisfy in the end, but it’s a diverting enough alternative to the torture and slasher flicks currently flowing out of the off-Hollywood horror scene.

'Cloverfield' Sequel's Possibility Addressed

1 March 2009 10:34 PM, PST | From Aceshowbiz | See recent Aceshowbiz news

Providing an update to reports on the development of "Cloverfield" sequel, producer/director J.J. Abrams has spilled the bean on the status of the proposed project. During a "Star Trek" panel at the WonderCon 2009 on Saturday, February 28, he revealed that the possible sequel of the 2008 hit monster movie could be in its early stages.

"We're working on one right now," Abrams responded when asked about the chances of another "Cloverfield" film. He continued explaining, "The key obviously is with a sequel, certainly with this film, is that it had better not be a business decision. If you're going to do something, it should be because you're really inspired to do it."

"It doesn't guarantee anything and it doesn't mean that it's gonna work, but it means you did what you did and not because you're trying to make a buck," the "Star Trek" director further pointed out. "We have an

Trailer: Brittany Murphy, Mike Vogel in Across the Hall

6 February 2009 | From shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news

Some films that we report on slip through the cracks. Across the Hall , directed by Alex Merkin, was one of them until we found a trailer online. And, as you'll see, the plot is much more than "a brutal standoff occurs between a young man, his fiancee and his best friend" (a plot synopsis issued when the project was first announced). Brittany Murphy, Mike Vogel and Danny Pino play the trio caught up in the narrative's deadly game. This is the second Murphy-starring trailer we've presented this week - check her out in the preview for Deadline .
