- Steve Leonard was born in Enniskillen, when he was 6 months old his family moved across the Irish Sea to settle in Cheshire. Steve's father, two older brothers, and a younger, are also Vets. He attended Bristol University Vet School, his younger brother, Keith, enrolled in Liverpool for a course in Vet practice, a year after Steve went to Vet School. In his fifth and final year of his degree, BBC television found him and asked him to join in a documentary. He reluctantly agreed and _"Vets' School" (1996)_ became a huge success. - Filming Ultimate Killers also involved some complicated stunts, such as tandem skydiving out of a balloon at 10,000ft in Spain, and climbing into an eagle's nest in Panama, 120ft up a very wobbly tree.
- He got bitten by a rabbit, he got tick bourne disease and was very sick for four months. Stung by killer bees, bitten by a shark in the leg, fell out of a tree, charged by a black rhino, got trapped under the ice, attacked by a lion, and got into a car crash which he had 3 broken ribs and 12 stitches. He calls it, "All in a days work!"

- I am sometimes surprised that I am still in one piece. I have jumped out of a balloon at 10,000 feet, swum with sharks, been chased by a cheetah and held the most venemous animal in the world in my hands. And that was just before lunch.
