- Walter De Buck was born on July 13, 1934 in Gent, Flanders, Belgium. He was an actor and composer, known for Het recht van de sterkste (1975), Paradijsvogels (1973) and De roste wasser (1980). He died on December 21, 2014 in Gent, Belgium.
- He had already been told that he suffers from Alzheimer's disease.
- In 1962 he founded the vzw Trefpunt, with which he restarted the Gentse Feesten in 1969.
- He studied at the Koninklijke Academie voor Schone Kunsten in Ghent, where he graduated in 1954 magna cum laude.
- De Buck made his debut as a sculptor at the Expo 58 and was awarded several prizes for his sculptures.
- Walter De Buck was an artist and a popular singer, and also the driving force behind the revival of the Ghent Festival at the end of the sixties and the beginning of the seventies.
