PBS’ Masterpiece and BritBox UK have renewed “Sanditon” for second and third seasons.
The critically acclaimed drama series based on Jane Austen’s final, unfinished novel will premiere on BritBox and later air on ITV.
Season 2 of “Sanditon” will continue to follow heroine Charlotte Heywood as she returns to the coastal resort of Sanditon and engages in intriguing and romantic relationships with familiar and new characters.
“Sanditon” will begin filming later this year in and around Bristol, and casting will be announced in the future.
Justin Young, who wrote four episodes of Season 1, will develop the new seasons, serving as lead writer and executive producer. Andrew Davies, who originally created the show, will return as a writer and executive producer.
Charles Sturridge is lead director, Rebecca Hedderly serves as series producer and Ian Hogan produces. Executive producers are Belinda Campbell for Red Planet Pictures, Susanne Simpson for Masterpiece and Chloe Tucker for ITV/BritBox.

Fox NFL Sunday host Curt Menefee is to front A&e’s canine competition series America’s Top Dog alongside expert trainer and former Secret Service member Nick White.
The pair are to front the series, which sees four police K9 teams, including the dogs from the hit police series Live Pd, compete against one civilian team in each episode for the title of Top Dog.
The teams will be tested on their speed, agility, and teamwork by completing a series of expert tasks on a massive obstacle course including navigating a complex maze for scented items and apprehending and taking down a suspect in a bite suit, among a variety of other challenges. Veteran sportscaster Curt Menefee is about to take on some new hosting duties. The longtime Fox NFL Sunday host is joining A&e’s new competition series “America’s Top Dog,” which features K9 police and civilian dogs (plus their handlers) competing in an obstacle course for cash prizes.

MGM Worldwide Distribution and Mexico’s Televisa have established a format license deal for MGM Television’s competition show, “Tko: Total Knockout.” As part of the deal, Televisa will produce 24 episodes of the CBS format. Companies have also agreed for Televisa to serve as MGM’s production partner in Latin America, designing and operating a production hub that will produce local versions of content for the region and the rest of the world. Bravo has greenlighted a celebrity version of a "Project Runway"-style show and has a new project for "Work Out" star Jackie Warner.
The network is set to announce "Launch My Line" from Lake Paradise Entertainment at its upfront presentation to advertisers Tuesday.
Originally titled "Celebrity Sew Off," the series features a group of famous faces vying to launch their own clothing line. The contestants will each get paired with a fashion design expert who will help the celebrity's creative vision become a reality.
Bravo also will unveil "Jackie's Gym Takeover," a project from Shed Media that combines the business-makeover format of the network's "Tabatha's Salon Takeover" and the star of its docu-soap "Work Out."
In each episode, gym owner Warner will user her experience to whip gyms back into shape.
"Gym Takeover" has been ordered as a pilot, with exec producers including Nick Emmerson, Jennifer O'Connell, Yann deBonne and Warner.

UTA reality agent Jonathan Swaden has moved to CAA, joining the agency's alternative TV department.
Swaden's UTA clients included Tim Gunn, the fashion expert; Shauna Minoprio, the executive producer of Bravo's "Top Chef"; Billy Taylor, executive producer of Bravo's "Flipping Out"; Holly Wofford, executive producer of ABC's "Supernanny"; Lenid Rolov, co-executive producer of upcoming CBS series "America's Top Dog"; Andrea Richter, co-executive producer of Spike's "The Ultimate Fighter"; and Bill Hochhauser, co-executive producer of Bravo's "The Millionaire Matchmaker".
Some of Swaden's clients are expected to join him at CAA, sources said. Swaden started at CAA last week.
The move comes on the heels of UTA hiring former CAA head of alternative TV Michael Camacho this month. Camacho was let go by CAA because of conflict-of-interest issues when dealing with agency client Oprah Winfrey.
