Brandon Ortiz is a Nicaraguan-Salvadoran-American filmmaker born and raised in East Hollywood, CA. Brandon graduated from Loyola High School in 2019 and is now studying Film & Television Production at the USC School of Cinematic Arts with a minor in screenwriting. Brandon is an experienced writer, director, and cinematographer with a particular passion for the genres of horror, crime thriller, and drama. He has worked on many short films at USC. Two of his short films, "To The Moon and Back" and "The Void" were official selections for the USC LatiFAM Latinx Film Festival. In high school, Brandon was also recognized with various awards and exhibitions for his work in street photography. He received a Scholastic Silver Key Award, a Drexel Photography Finalist Award, and the Arts Department Award at his high school as well as exhibitions at USC and the Cathedral of Los Angeles. Brandon gained experience as a production assistant/crew member in various student productions as well as through a student producer position at the USC Marshall School of Business. As he continues his studies at USC School of Cinematic Arts, Brandon's focus is set on writing, directing, and cinematography. He is particularly drawn to genre-bending stories that shed light on issues of mental health, racial and economic inequality, and inter-generational trauma.
