23 May 2014 2:09 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Coinciding with its wide DVD release this week, Warner Bros. has dropped another clip from its upcoming animated family superhero feature Jla Adventures: Trapped in Time, which sees Superman, Cyborg and Batman racing through space to try and foil Lex Luthor’s crafty plan…

After crafting a monumentally over-the-top plan to take over the world by expanding the polar ice caps, mastermind Lex Luthor is missing and widely presumed dead. One thousand years later, Luthor is discovered and memorialized in the Legion of Super Heroes’ museum, where the teenage super hero, Karate Kid, accidentally releases him. The museum contains both the knowledge of Superman’s secret identity and a way to time travel, in the form of the mysterious Time Trapper. Once Lex Luthor is free, he quickly sets out on a mission to permanently erase Superman from the time stream.

Film Review: ‘Locker 13’

28 March 2014 1:18 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Only those scared of being bored to death need fear “Locker 13,” an omnibus of horror stories that could hardly be more tame, talky and tepid, both individually and as a whole. This feature from Arizona collective Brothers’ Ink Prods. — some of its segments originally shot as shorts four to seven years ago — makes its theatrical and VOD bows March 28, with DVD release following April 29. In any format, it’s bound to raise the hackles of any genre fans unlucky enough to pay money in the hopes of some entertainment value.

The framing story features Jason Spisak as Skip, an ex-con newly hired as night janitor at a Wild West theme park. As he’s shown around the grounds, he has to listen to old-hand supervisor Archie (Jon Gries) windbag out some tales about “choices” and “consequences,” though danged if viewers will be able to discern the lesson, or simply the point, »

Review: Locker 13 - Don't Throw Away The Key For This Thriller Anthology Just Yet

28 March 2014 10:00 AM, PDT | Twitch | See recent Twitch news »

Locker 13 is a horror/thriller anthology, a collection of five cautionary tales about making the right choice. The wraparound story, The Other Side, stars Jon Gries as Archie. Archie is introducing Skip (played by voice actor Jason Spisak) to the night shift at a western theme park. As they tour the park Gries tells all these tales to Skip. They are meant to serve as cautionary tales, tales about making the right choices. Before Skip takes over the night shift he is warned not to tough locker number 13 in the employee change room. In each story locker 13 is the common point which draws them all together. The anthology itself ends with Skip's story, as curiosity overwhelms him and he looks into the locker and...

Locker 13 review: no fresh hell

27 March 2014 3:30 PM, PDT | www.flickfilosopher.com | See recent FlickFilosopher news »

Nothing here is terribly haunting, but at least someone is trying to make something like a horror movie these days that isn’t about buckets of gore and inventive torture. I’m “biast” (pro): nothing

I’m “biast” (con): nothing

(what is this about? see my critic’s minifesto)

Oh, Rod Serling, what you wrought with your Twilight Zone. You might have some apologizing to do if you hadn’t been so darn effective at prodding, with spooky insight, the underbelly of human fears and desires. Then again, it’s because you were so darn good that, decades later, that we are still subject to the creative undertakings of filmmakers who think they are worthy to follow in your footsteps. Here we have an anthology of vaguely scary, sorta suspenseful, kinda ooky stories that are nowhere near as clever as they think they are, very loosely connected by »
