1. Sophie Hunter and Johnny Borrell. 2. Noelle Reno and Hofit Golan. 3. David Hasselhoff and his daughters. High security battled high society at the Kensington Palace Gates, in London, last Thursday night at the Quintessentially Perrier-Jouët summer party. Concierge club co-founder Ben Elliot cut a fine yet rather formal figure in a blue Ralph Lauren suit, but those he greeted on the steps of the Orangery were quite a different kettle of fish. The dress code was avant-garde, after all, and for guests, including actor Thomas Sangster, writer Richard Dennen, model Poppy Delevingne, Hofit Golan, model Lily Cole, and the Marquis of Worcester, no outfit was too loud, no bustle too big, and no color too garish. Actress Sophie Hunter, sporting a baby bump, and Razorlight singer Johnny Borrell were spotted sitting on a wicker chair that appeared suspended in mid-air beneath an arch of white roses. It was only when one partygoer piped up,

- If production began back in March, Sam Taylor-Wood is well into the post production process on Nowhere Boy, probably at the editing bay as I write this. No official stills have been released, but some outdoor pics were snapped featuring the film's lead actor Aaron Johnson who takes on a younger John Lennon, as well as Anne-Marie Duff who plays Lennon's mother. There is a smidgen of resemblance between stock photos of Lennon and Johnson. The Weinstein Co. might be in a difficult spot right now, but we can expect to see this before the end of the year. Written by Matt Greenhalgh, (same guy behind Control) this is based on John Lennon's sister Julia Baird's book Imagine This: Growing Up With My Brother John Lennon. A spirited teenager, curious, sharp and funny, growing up in the shattered city of Liverpool. Two extraordinary sisters tussle for his

The Weinstein Co. sent out a press release today announcing the March 8 start of principal photography on Nowhere Boy, a film billed as telling the never before seen story of John Lennon's childhood and along with the announcement came a complete cast list including the young man that will be playing Paul McCartney, and I am sure many of you will remember him from a little romance feature a few years back. Playing Lennon will be Aaron Johnson as announced back in January along with Kristin Scott Thomas who will play Lennon's tough talking aunt Mimi and Anne-Marie Duff will play his mother Julia. As for McCartney, that role will be filled by Thomas Sangster who played Liam Neeson's son in Love, Actually in 2003 and outside of a few small parts here and there, most prominently the box-office bust Tristan + Isolde, this is likely to be his first major role since Love,

Directed by Jane Campion
Starring Abbie Cornish and Ben Whishaw. Co-starring: Paul Schneider, Thomas Sangster, Samuel Barnett and Kerry Fox
Synopsis A biopic with a romantic focus, it tells the story of the doomed love affair between Fannie Brown and the poet John Keats who died at only 25 by way of period cinema's most fearsome killer: tuberculosis. Cough once and you're dead by the end of the picture.
Brought to you by a merciful god for Jane Campion is back.
Expected release date god only knows
Nathaniel: I've just noticed that this list is rather filled with auteurs who are notoriously slow about actually making movies and Campion fits that bill though we didn't expect she would at first. After the international success of her masterpiece The Piano sixteen long years ago, it seemed like we'd be spending a lot of time wrestling with her inimitable voice and forceful humanist vision.

Steven Spielberg’s Tintin movie received a lot of press recently during the high profile split of DreamWorks and Paramount Pictures and the possible failure due to the faltering economy. Paramount and Sony Pictures are co-financing this project, however, so it has been mentioned quite a bit over the past few months.
Rarely did the stories provide any details about the 3-D motion capture film itself… until now. This week there was an onslaught of news about the first Tintin in a planned trilogy for the comic book character. The title is officially The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn. The “unicorn” is referring to a 17th century ship, not a mythological creature capable of killing a rhino in a horned battle royale.
The trades are also reporting some big casting choices. Billy Elliot actor Jamie Bell will play the aforementioned Tintin in this movie and presumably throughout the trilogy.

In a casting move that makes so much sense that it’s hard to muster up much more than a “Well, yeah, of course,” it has been announced that Jamie Bell has taken over the title role in the Steven Spielberg / Peter Jackson Tintin film, filling the crucial role vacated when Thomas Sangster left the project. Bell joins the already announced cast of Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as does Daniel Craig, who is also freshly announced in the role of the villainous Red Rackham. And, honestly, while Bell is clearly the more important casting decision this looks like one plum of a role for Craig who may just prove to be the most successful actor ever when it comes to shaking off the James Bond typecasting thanks to savvy decisions like this.

"James Bond" star Daniel Craig is playing a villain in the upcoming "Tintin" film. He will play the pirate Red Rackham in the Steven Spielberg 3-D film.
"Billy Elliot" star Jamie Bell is also on board, playing the title role. He replaces Thomas Sangster, who dropped out from the project when the production was delayed in October.
Previously announced casts include Andy Serkis, who is set to play Captain Haddock, and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, who will play the clumsy look-alike detectives Thomson and Thompson. Mackenzie Cook is also set to appear in an unspecified role.
"The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn" is based on Belgian artist Herge's comic book series. Filming was due to kick off in October, but was delayed after Universal opted out of the film. Sony and Paramount are now the film's distributors.

When I interviewed Andy Serkis last week and he mentioned that he would be filming Tintin starting pretty much right now, he couldn't tell me what the movie was called or even who was playing the main character. But now, thanks to a press release sent to Coming Soon, all has been revealed. Steven Spielberg will be directing Jamie Bell as the titular character in The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn, and Defiance co-star Daniel Craig will be joining as the villain Red Rackham. That's right! Not only did they replace Thomas Sangster in the lead role with the older, more interesting, and more talented Bell, but they've convinced 007 to come along as well. This automatically bodes well for the movie, but there's one more piece of awesome news in the press release: Edgar Wright is co-writing the screenplay with Steven Moffat and Joe Cornish. We probably

Jamie Bell and Daniel Craig, who recently shared the screen in the Edward Zwick film Defiance, have joined the cast of Tintin, which is being directed by Steven Spielberg. Bell is set to play the title character, replacing Thomas Sangster who had to drop out after the film’s schedule changed, and Craig will play the nefarious Red Rackham. Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Gad Elmaleh, Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook round out the cast of the film, which is going by the title The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn. The film is based on the iconic character created by Georges Remi. Tintin is an intrepid young reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of high adventure. The screenplay was written by Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish. Principal Photography has just started on the 3D motion capture film,

If you're excited about "Tintin", then today's news doesn't get any more major than this. It's so massive that I have to break it down into awesome bits or "awebits". The first film is actually titled, "The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn" because if Tintin wasn't a hard enough sell, throw in some unicorns. That'll get the male demo excited. (Actually, reading the synopsis of the book on Wikipedia, "The Unicorn" is actually an old wooden ship, much like "diversity") Second, Habeus Tintin: Jamie Bell will be playing the titular star after Thomas Sangster dropped out to regret his life. Bell previously worked with producer and director of the second Tintin film Peter Jackson on "King Kong". Third, we also have a villain: Daniel Craig who will be playing the nefarious "Red Rackham". Craig previously worked with producer ...

The rumors were true: According to Beaks over at Aint It Cool News, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg are confirmed to be playing bumbling detectives Thompson and Thomson. In the original story, the two were unrelated but were thought of as twins due to their uncannily similar appearance. It’ll be interesting to see how that plays out on screen, as the film will be animated using motion capture technology.
Frost and Pegg join Andy Serkis, who has been cast as Captain Haddock. The lead character of Tintin, once filled by Thomas Sangster, has yet to be cast. Production on the first film is scheduled to begin soon, with Steven Spielberg helming the initial entry and Jackson taking on the second film. The films will be based on the Tintin books The Secret of the Unicorn and Red Rackham’s Treasure. More casting news will undoubtedly be revealed in the

We haven't heard that much about Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson's ambitious "Tintin" project in a while, but the movie is certainly not dead. On the contrary, it's actually set to head into production in the coming months.
Now, according to the folks at Ain't It Cool News, Nick Frost and Simon Pegg are on board to star as Thomson and Thompson. This info comes from one of their sources, so it has not been announced officially quite yet.
Okay, as you know these two characters totally look alike and Pegg and Frost share no physical similarities at all, but I think they'll somehow be able to make it work because the animated film will be shot in 3D using motion-capture technology.
Andy Serkis is also on board as Captain Haddock. Thomas Sangster was attached to star as Tintin, but he recently dropped out because of scheduling conflicts.

When you've had trouble getting financing, had to move to a new company, and lost your lead actor, things don't bode well. So, how do you increase confidence in a film about Tintin? You grab Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, naturally. Ohhhh yes, folks!
Variety has confirmed that Pegg and Frost have been cast as Thomson and Thompson -- the mustachioed and bumbling detectives. While they might not be completely identical like the almost-matching men from the comic, I would love to see Simon and Nick dressed up as the pair. This whole deal might be performance capture, but maybe, just maybe, some promo material could be live action? Or maybe a brief live-action short to accompany the film? Please? (If you haven't already guessed, I'm a rabid fan of Hot Fuzz.)
Production is supposed to start in a month, but we're still without our star -- the one who

Feeling lackluster about the upcoming Steven Spielberg-Peter Jackson live action version of Tintin? Well, you’re not the only one. Despite the high profile talent behind the camera nobody seems to be paying much attention to this one so far. Heck, nobody even particularly noticed when Tintin himself - actor Thomas Sangster - dropped out of the film. But things just got a whole lot more interesting with a pair of casting announements.
It already seemed pretty much inevitable that Jackson regular Andy Serkis would have a place in the film and his part as Captain Haddock fits like a glove. But we already knew about that one. The new news? Shaun of the Dead and Spaced alumni Simon Pegg and Nick Frost as bowler-hatted detectives Thomson and Thompson. Whee! Keep casting like this and suddenly people are going to notice.

Although rumours have been abounding on the net about the upcoming Steven Spielberg directed and Peter Jackson produced Tintin, the guys over at AICN have managed to confirm via a “trusted source not at all involved in production” that one of those rumours is indeed true. That is that Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost are set to star as the characters Thomson and Thompson respectively. They will join already announced cast member Andy Serkis (who’s playing Tintin’s friend Captain Haddock).
There was news at one point of young Thomas Sangster playing the title role but he dropped out due to “scheduling conflicts” - although I can’t see what other movie he would rather do than one directed by Steven Spielberg, one of the most famous and most loved directors out there, and produced by Peter Jackson, the man behind Lord of the Rings,

Here are the things you need to know about Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg's Tintin. Spielberg is still directing the first film, which is slated to hit in 2010. Andy Serkis is still set to play Captain Haddock. Youngster Thomas Sangster, who was going to play Tintin, has dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. British comedy duo Simon Pegg and Nick Frost will play detectives Thomson and Thompson. And lastly, the $135 million budget for this performance-capture 3D film is being split by Paramount and Sony. Lots of new details for an enormous project that is slowly gaining steam. But does anyone really care about Tintin? This update first hit earlier today on Ain't It Cool News. Tintin was delayed when Jackson and Spielberg ran into troubles finding the money needed to get this expensive project off the ground. As Beaks of AICN puts it, "you know the economy is shitty

After months of rumors, English actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost have both been confirmed to take on the roles of Thomson and Thompson in the upcoming film "Tintin."
The CG motion-capture film, based on the comic book series "The Adventures of Tintin" created by Herge, still doesn't have the title character cast onboard after Thomas Sangster dropped out due to scheduling conflicts, although Captain Haddock will be played by Andy Serkis.
The story will focus on Tintin as he buys a Spanish galleon miniature for Haddock. It gets damaged and reveals a hidden parchment, which could lead to a hidden pirate treasure that belongs to one of Haddock's ancestors.
Steven Spielberg will be directing and producing the 5 million-budget pic. Peter Jackson will also produce, as per aintitcool.com.
