'Entourage' movie 'close to greenlight'

26 October 2013 7:32 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

An Entourage feature film is close to being greenlit, according to a new report.

There have been rumours of a planned movie sequel to the HBO series starring Jeremy Piven since its finale in 2011.

While creator Mark Wahlberg suggested that the film was delayed because of "greed", star Kevin Connolly recently claimed that the movie will happen.

TMZ reports that the cast and producers of the show are poised to sign a deal with Warner Bros "as early as today".

Sources close to the production claim that stars Adrian Grenier and Jerry Ferrara have been holding out for higher pay.

The sources also say that the studio has now agreed to give a number of the actors a certain percentage of the movie's takings after release.

There has yet to be an official statement from HBO on the Entourage movie.

'Murder, She Wrote' remake? Why not 'Diagnosis Murder' and 'Jake and the Fatman' too?

24 October 2013 4:08 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The news that NBC is planning a remake/reboot of "Murder, She Wrote" starring Oscar winner Octavia Spencer unleashed waves of snark online Thursday (Oct. 24). It's the latest example of TV networks and studios turning to old properties in the hopes that a new audience will take to them.

Leaving aside the question of whether such reboots actually work -- recent history shows a lot more misses than hits -- the "Murder, She Wrote" news got us thinking: If we were profit-hungry TV executives, what other shows might be ripe for a 21st-century update? Some ideas, and the networks that would call them home:

"Diagnosis Murder" (ABC): As with the CBS original, a renowned physician moonlights as a police consultant and often ends up working with his detective son. Dick Van Dyke and his real-life son Barry starred the first time around; the reboot would reunite on-screen father and »

'Entourage' movie will happen, says Eric Murphy actor Kevin Connolly

21 October 2013 5:51 PM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

The Entourage movie will happen, according to actor Kevin Connolly.

The film version of the HBO series has been subject to apparently tough contract issues and producer Mark Wahlberg last week said the actors should "stop being so greedy".

However, Connolly, who played Vincent Chase's (Adrian Grenier) manager and best friend Eric Murphy, has now insisted that the movie is "gonna happen" and production will begin as early as January 2014.

"It's gonna happen. It's a complicated thing, but I'm in," he told TMZ.

Asked about the rumours certain cast members were looking to negotiate bigger deals to star in the project, Connolly revealed: "No, everybody's in line. It's gonna be good... January, we're gonna do it. It's not official, but it will be."

Entourage came to an end on HBO in 2011, before a movie follow-up was announced in January 2012.

Wahlberg said in January that he was hoping for an April or May 2014 release. »

'Entourage' movie is delayed because of "greed", says Mark Wahlberg

15 October 2013 3:55 PM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - Movie News news »

Mark Wahlberg has revealed that 'greed' is delaying the production of the Entourage movie.

The actor, a producer of the HBO series, appeared to confirm reports that the TV show's stars' contract issues are holding up the film.

Asked by TMZ when the movie was releasing, Wahlberg replied: "As soon as them guys stop being so greedy.

"It's one of those things where if the movie is a success, then we'll get to make a lot more of them and everybody will make a lot more money."

According to a recent report, cast members including Jeremy Piven (Ari) and Adrian Grenier (Vince) were looking to negotiate bigger deals to star in the project.

Entourage came to an end on HBO in 2011, before a movie follow-up was announced in January 2012.

The Entourage movie has reportedly been delayed due to cast contract issues.

According to the New York Post, cast members including Jeremy Piven and Adrian Grenier are looking to negotiate bigger deals to star in the project.

Warner Bros' big-screen version of the HBO drama was previously scheduled to begin production in May, but it has now been put on hold.

Industry insiders have claimed that Piven has now signed his contract, but other cast members including Grenier and Ferrara are yet to agree deals.

Entourage came to an end on HBO in 2011, before a movie follow-up was announced in January 2012.

Producer Mark Wahlberg stated back in January that he was hoping for an April or May 2014 release.

He said: ''It took a long time to get it written, get it right, and we got a fantastic script. Warner Bros is very excited about it. All the guys are excited. »

Watch: 'Necessary Roughness' Tackles The A-Rod Doping Scandal

14 August 2013 6:36 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Art is imitating life on tonight's "Necessary Roughness" (Wednesdays at 10 p.m. Et) as the USA drama tackles the issue of performance enhancing drugs ("doping") in professional sports. The USA drama even goes so far as to name-check New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez, who was recently suspended for 211 games after reportedly using and possessing "numerous forms of prohibited performance-enhancing substances."

In HuffPost TV's exclusive clip above, sports agent Connor McClane (John Stamos) encourages his client, football star Terrence "Tk" King (Mehcad Brooks), to attend the agency's medical clinic to get him back to full strength for an ad campaign after suffering a debilitating injury. Unfortunately for Tk, the experimental medical treatment being offered requires a nondisclosure agreement, and it may not be completely legal.

"Your V3 clinic, it's not like an A-Rod sitch though, right?" Tk asks warily. "I'd hate to get suspended for like, 100 games -- that's like a career in football. »

Rachel Bilson & More Stars Celebrate The 10th Anniversary Of ‘The O.C.’

Welcome (back) to ‘The O.C.,’ b***h! See what the stars are saying a decade after the show’s premiere — including Rachel’s hilarious YouTube tribute to Summer.

Stepping back into the role that made her a household name, Rachel delivers her best “Chino? Ew!” in the most incredible six-second video that anyone has ever posted to YouTube. It was uploaded by Josh, and tweeted out with a simple preface: “Rachel Bilson has a message for fans 10 years later.”

But Rachel isn’t the only former O.C. star to chime in on this very special day!

'The O.C.' turns 10: Ten ways the show helped shape TV today

5 August 2013 12:56 AM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

The final days of the 2002-03 TV season featured the series finales of "Dawson's Creek" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer," two of the biggest and most loved teen dramas of the late '90s and early aughts.

"Gilmore Girls" and "Smallville" were up and running for The WB, and "Everwood" had wrapped its first season, but it looked as though teen dramas -- which had helped fuel the rise of Fox a decade or so earlier and were keeping The WB alive at the time -- were on the wane.

Then on Aug. 5, 2003 -- 10 years ago Monday -- Fox unveiled "The O.C." A phenomenon was born almost from the first notes of Phantom Planet's "California," and the show would, in terms of ratings numbers, become the biggest teen drama since the heyday of "Beverly Hills, 90210."
