1992 graduate of Albright College, Reading, Pennsylvania (Major: Individual Studies). She attended the Eugene O'Neill Theatre Center's National Theatre Institute in Waterford, Conn. and went on to earn a MFA in acting from the University of Minnesota.

Is also a South African dialect coach.

4 May 2002, received the Young Alumna Outstanding Achievement Award, Albright College, Reading, Pennsylvania.

2009 Village Voice Obie Award recipient for her performance in the Off-Broadway production "Ruined".
