- Karen was born in northern NJ and grew up in Harrington Park. After graduating, she traveled around the united states and finally settled back in NYC, working as a Booker at Wilhelmina models in 1974. She worked closely with Wilhelmina and ultimately became the Director if the "New Faces" Division. Some of the models she represented were Gia and Patti Hanson, and many models who went on to act like Pam Dawber, Janine Turner, Pamela Gidley and Donna Dixon. She married and moved to Massachusetts in 1981 where she worked as a still producer for for a few years with various photographers. After attending Emerson College, she started a production company which produced corporate videos for Digital Computer and other like companies. She then started producing independent films and commercials. In 1989, she worked on a series of Japanese commercials production managing and location managing. This is when she decided locations was what she loved. Being a single mother, she opted to do commercials and industrials to stay close to home. When her son went off to college, she started working on larger film and television projects. - Karen was born and raised in NJ to mother, Mary Judy Stark, a professional tennis player and father, Douglas Stark, a stage actor who loved the theatre. From 1976 -1981 she was the Director of the New Faces Division at Wilhelmina Models in NYC. Moving to MA in 1981, she worked with photographers as a studio manager and production coordinator, and at the same time took courses in film and commercial production at Emerson College. She opened a Production Company in the early 80's working with many computer companies (Digital, Data General & Wang). The company closed a few years later and she started free lancing as a line producer & production manager on independent films and commercials. Location scouting and managing started in 1989 when a Japanese company came to do a series of commercials in the northeast. - Karen grew up in the business, her father was actor Douglas Stark, known mostly for his stage work (Little Foxes with Rip Torn & Geraldine Page), A Community of Two (with Claudette Colbert), and Any Wednesday (with Maureen Reagan). He was a working actor and model. His siblings were writers (Sheldon Stark), and producers (Wilbur Stark and Midge Stark).
