A TV show DVD set represents more than a holiday gift that's easy to wrap. It also demonstrates respect: you know the recipient is mentally fit and couch-ready for a viewing marathon of "Dr. Who" or "House."
Those are among the new releases worth considering for the TV lover in your life:
_"The Dean Martin Variety Show: Dean's Ultimate Collection," Time Life. Ring-a-ding-ding! This is Dino's most comprehensive collection yet. With footage culled from nine seasons and 48 episodes of the NBC series, the set includes 17 DVDs with 32 hours of Dean and his pals that originally aired from 1965 to 1974. There are more than 300 musical performances, plus interviews and a guest list filled with virtually every major star of the era.
_"Poldark: The Complete Collection," Acorn Media. Less posh than "Downton Abbey" but just as addictive when it first aired in the 1970s, "Poldark" is a darkly romantic saga set in late 18th-century Cornwall. »

Relativity, RelativityREAL and the Bandito Brothers will bring their No.1 box office film Act of Valor to the small screen, it was announced today by Relativity's President, Tucker Tooley, RelativityREAL's CEO, Tom Forman, and the Bandito Brothers. The theatrical release over-performed at the box office and in-home entertainment markets, including VOD and is soon to be broadcast on the FX Network.
The companies will work together to develop and shop an original and exclusive project based on the hit film, taking it to broadcast and cable networks shortly.
The film was an unprecedented blend of real-life heroism and original filmmaking, starring a group of active-duty U.S. Navy SEALs, alongside actors Roselyn Sanchez, Alex Veadov, Jason Cottle and Nestor Serrano, in a film like no other in Hollywood's history. A fictionalized account of a real life Navy Seal operation, Act of Valor featured a riveting story, taking audiences on an adrenaline-fueled, »
Act of Valor was a pretty awesome movie, and I'm excited to hear that Relativity Media and the Bandito Brothers are looking to team up to make a TV show based around it! It's about freakin' time someone developed a Navy Seal TV series! If they are able to bring the authenticity, realism and badassery that the movie had, then this could end up being an amazing show! The series will tell the true stories of missions carried out by the SEALs.
For those of you who haven't seen the movie yet, you might want to check it out. The acting might not be the best, but that's because they used real Navy SEALs. It's definitely entertaining though. There's no word on if they'll use Seal team members for the series or not. The plan is to shop the series around to broadcast and cable networks. The press release also »

Mayim Bialik is looking on the bright side of life after being involved in a car accident last week. In a new blog posted on Monday, The Big Bang Theory actress somewhat humorously chronicled the series of events that left her hand injured on that fateful day.
