Motzie Dapul is a queer Pinay writer, artist and animator who's bringing Filipino and LGBTQ+ themed stories to global audiences, primarily through genre stories such as fantasy and mythology, sci-fi, horror, and romance, often all at once.
She's best known as the creator, writer, editor, and protagonist voice actor of supernatural horror audio drama, The Hi Nay Podcast.
She mainly works as a 2D TV Animator in Toronto, on shows such as Netflix's F Is For Family and Exploding Kittens. She previously worked as a Digital Animator in the Philippines on shows like My Little Pony, before immigrating to Ontario, Canada in 2018. In the Philippines, she studied Animation at the College of St. Benilde in Manila. When she moved to Canada, she took part in the Advanced TV and Film post-graduate program at Sheridan College in Oakville.
She's credited for articles on sites such as Whatculture.com and CBCKids.ca as a contributing writer. She also produced, edited, and contributed comics to the Pinoy Monster Boyfriend, Girlfriend, and Lover Anthologies - independently sold comics anthologies by Filipino artists.
Motzie grew up in Quezon City as the 5th of 6 siblings, in the colourful and vibrant Diliman. As soon as she started telling stories, she never stopped, joining the Philippines' thriving Komiks community, working in writing and 2D animation, and eventually becoming an audio drama creator. She loves Philippine culture, mythology and folklore, horror, and fantasy and aims to inject it into all her works.
