30 August 2014 11:22 AM, PDT | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Social satire horror film L.A. Slasher is opening and closing the 2014 Salt Lake Comic Con, running September 4-6; and if you'll be there, we have all the details you need right here, including a look at the Con's guest list, which is pretty impressive considering it's only their second year.

L.A. Slasher, directed by Martin Owen and produced by Jeffrey Wright and Daniel Sollinger (Girls Against Boys, The Alphabet Killer), will have a special advance screening to open the festival and a midnight screening to close it out.

Salt Lake Comic Con 2013 was the largest first-year comic convention in North American history and the largest convention ever to take place in Utah. This year’s event will be held at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

“We are thrilled that such an iconic event will be screening our film,” said L.A. Slasher producer Jeffrey Wright.

Comic-Con 2014 Cosplay Music Video

31 July 2014 1:03 PM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

With only a handful of exceptions, many of the panels at San Diego Comic-Con this year were a little underwhelming. On the bright side, the outdoor festivities and cosplay were on point as usual. The good folks at Sneaky Zebra were there to capture all the costumed craziness and gender-bending greatness. Look for cameos from panel moderator extraordinaire Chris Hardwick, David Yost and Walter Jones (the original Blue and Black Power Rangers), director Freddie Wong, actor Sam Witwer, and more.

In celebration of recently hitting 100 videos and over 100,000 subscribers on YouTube, Sneaky Zebra is also giving away a couple Sdcc exclusive Firefly action figures. To enter to win, tweet @The_SneakyZebra ideas for who you like to see Nathan Fillion and Adam Baldwin cosplay.

First Details For DC’s Aquaman-Centric Animated Film Justice League: Throne Of Atlantis

16 July 2014 3:44 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

After decades of being the laughing stock of the DC Comics universe, Aquaman is finally getting the chance to shine in his own DC animated feature, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis. Hardcore comic book fans have known for some time that there’s more to Aquaman than meets the eye, but general audiences still have a poor perception of the King of Atlantis.

The orange and green tights and ability to talk to fish haven’t really helped him much, but hopefully this iteration of his New 52 revamp will get people excited for his appearance in the burgeoning live-action DC cinematic universe (beginning, of course, with a small cameo in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice).

Aquaman was noticeably absent in last year’s DC animated feature Justice League: War, but a post-credits sequence alluded to his future appearance and a strong focus on how his Atlantean roots would »

“We meet [Aquaman] at a low point in his life,” says supervising producer James Tucker. “He’s a little bit lost. His father has died and he’s always been an outsider, so the one person who had his back is now gone. When that Atlanteans instigate incidents to escalate a war with the surface world, he doesn’t yet know who he is. As he discovers his true history he’s going to have a lot of choices to make. 8 Glorious TV Homages to the Geekery of Dungeons & Dragons

3 July 2014 10:00 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Dungeons & Dragons has defied the odds and turned forty this year. A niche game that might take a decade to complete, its mixture of imagination, dice, paper and pencils seemed no match for the rise of the Digital Age and quick satisfaction. But tabletop gaming (and RPGs) bit their thumbs at the odds and became kinda cool. Celebs like Wil Wheaton, Sam Witwer, and Chris Hardwick have met up for a round of Dragon Age on TableTop, and the popular web series is now cooking up a spin-off RPG show after their super-successful crowdfunding campaign. But the RPG has not only infiltrated the back-room geek realms of the Internet. Though it never made much progress on film, save for the rare appearance in films like Et, D&D has become a television pre-requisite. Forget about musical episodes; if geeks are present in any noticeable way, there will be an episode or scene devoted to a D&D »

Chris Hardwick, Nolan North And More Join The Tales From The Borderlands Voice Cast

6 June 2014 11:00 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Telltale Games’ upcoming Tales From The Borderlands just got a lot more nerdy, as today the company revealed which talents will be lending their pipes to the title.

Sam Witwer, perhaps best known for his work in the American version of Being Human and his voicing of Darth Maul in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, will voice one of the main protagonists of the game, Rhys. Joining Witer will be Nerdist founder and @midnight host Chris Hardwick, who will portray Vaughn, a “meek, mousy accountant for the Hyperion Corporation” and Rhy’s best friend.

Additional talent featured in Tales From The Borderlands include Patrick Warburton (Family Guy), Nolan North (Uncharted series) and several returning members from the Borderlands series cast, including Dameon Clarke as Handsome Jack.

Without doubt, Telltale Games’ narrative-driven experiences have typically featured excellent voice casting, and Tales From The Borderlands doesn’t appear to change that. All »
