Bryan Young: Star Wars Day - An Interview with Darth Maul: Sam Witwer

4 May 2012 11:16 AM, PDT | Aol TV. | See recent Aol TV. news »

May the fourth. It's known the world over as Star Wars Day for its obvious pun, but it's a great day to reflect on the things about the Star Wars saga we all hold dear. For the last few years, I've been a great fan of the Cartoon Network Show, The Clone Wars.

The last two episodes of the last season re-introduced everyone's favorite Sith assassin to the world of Star Wars: Darth Maul. It turns out he didn't perish down that reactor shaft on Naboo as we thought. Broken by Obi-wan and fueled by his hatred and the dark side of the Force, Maul was swept away to a junk planet and left to cobble together a robotic lower half.

To give a voice to the new, animated Darth Maul, supervising director Dave Filoni turned to Sam Witwer. Star Wars fans were already familiar with Sam's work; he »

That Drew Struzan Doc We've Been Waiting for Needs Help

2 May 2012 6:00 PM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

Over the last year or so we've been reporting on a new documentary based around legendary poster artist Drew Struzan called Drew: The Man Behind The Poster. It looks like it will be a great documentary especially for those of you like myself who really enjoy the art of movie posters. The doc includes interviews with George Lucas, Harrison Ford, Michael J. Fox, Guillermo Del Toro, Steven Spielberg and many more.

We recently received an e-mail in behalf of the film's director Erik P. Sharkey saying that the film has been completely shot and edited. But he needs a little help completing it. In the middle of the sound mixing phase they ran out of money. Up until this point the movie has been completely self financed, now they are looking for an additional $8,000 to complete and polish up the movie so it can fianlly get released.

Being Human Season 2 Finale Review: Shredded Apart

10 April 2012 5:25 PM, PDT | BuzzFocus.com | See recent BuzzFocus.com news »

The Season 2 finale of Being Human, “It’s My Party and I’ll Die if I Want To” completed a circle for Josh (Sammy Huntington) and Aidan (Sam Witwer) that began at the season premiere, “Turn This Mother Out.” Sally’s (Meaghan Rath) funny but poignant line–their last scene in the house together by the way–summed up the entire episode.

Sally: You two are about to go on two killing sprees for women… That is so hot.

Josh and Nora (Kristen Hager) found themselves in another standoff– this time against Josh’s maker, Ray (Andreas Apergis) and as humans, not wolves. In “Turn This Mother Out,” Aidan dug up his former love, Suren (Dichen Lachman) after an 80-year punishment and his fate is unknown after he’s thrown into the same casket that she laid in for decades but with her ashes covering his body.

'Being Human': Sam Witwer on the shocking finale and Season 3

9 April 2012 3:16 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"Being Human" has it's shocking finale on April 9, and that term is not used lightly. Someone isn't going to make it out alive! We chatted with Sam Witwer who plays Aidan the vampire about his pivotal relationship with his lost love, the big finish and what's coming in Season 3.

"The interesting thing I think about Suren (Dichen Lachman) is it's a complicated, bad relationship. Aidan is a guy who is kind of drifting, and in a bad moral position. He's looking to grab any anchor anywhere to gain some stability, and he picks the wrong one. He picks Suren, and you think he should be picking Josh (Sam Huntington) or Sally (Meaghan Rath) and he doesn't, and it's because he thinks that he's no good for them. He thinks that he's not doing them any good, which is something we get to see more of in the third season.

Morning Meme: Chris Colfer Gets Crazy, Anne Rice Wishes Gays Happy Easter, and Sofia Vergara Is a Hit on "Saturday Night Live"

Over the weekend in Australia, Zac Efron was snapped on the balcony of his hotel room shirtless, digging around in his pants, and later, after a shower, he may have displayed one perfectly shaped, tanned butt cheek to the photographers. Or not, according to some. But let's keep the fantasy, Ok?

Anne Rice, fresh off a hilarious interview with Stephen Colbert, posted an Easter message to the gays on her Facebook page. "Happy Easter, Gay People of the World: you have indeed risen in the last few decades from centuries of persecution and oppression. May this be a great holiday for you all wherever you are. You are winning the battle for equal rights. And your victory over discrimination and hate is a victory for all oppressed persons. Happy Easter!"

In the UK, The Sunday Times took the anti-marriage position, putting itself in opposition to The Times, which came out for equality last week. »

The good news: Being Human is on Syfy tonight! The bad news: It’s the season finale. The good news: It isn’t the Series finale, since, as we reported back in February, it’s been picked up for a third season! The bad news: We’ll have to wait months for a new episode. The good news: At least we have a clip to help you stand the wait until tonight!

Clip: Being Human – “It’s My Party and I’ll Die if I Want To”

Click here to view the embedded video.

Wait – he’s still going to do it even though Ray has a wife and son? Oh this will not go well for angsty Josh. Plus we have Aidan going after Mother, and Sally potentially left alone… Looks like an excellent season finale in store for us!

Being Human Review: Never Can Say Goodbye

26 March 2012 8:23 PM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

It was a night full of hellos and goodbyes on Being Human. Nora returned and Aidan decided to run with Suren. Sally learned she didn't have to fear the reaper in "Don't Fear the Scott" and, in general, things fell apart. Check out the Being Human quotes for some of the fun stuff and some of the sad things that were said.

I loved that Sally was watching Paranormal Witness on TV. What else would a ghost watch, right? And, damn, I was glad Scott was hanging around. Whether she wanted to admit it or not, he was giving Sally some decent advice. But not as strong as that she got when Nora came back, trying to atone for her own sins. Josh was so torn between the two women from his past that he couldn't see she was doing good by helping Sally and basically slammed the door in her face. »

'Being Human': Don't wear perfume when sleeping with a vampire

26 March 2012 3:31 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"Being Human" is back on March 26 with an all new episode. "Don't Fear the Scott" promises to be a big one, with Aidan (Sam Witwer) trying to run away with Suren (Dichen Lachman) and a dinner party that might end up with a guest as dinner.

We've got two clips from the episode for you. In the first, Suren is having mommy issues and Aidan, though he loves his roomies, decides to take her away from all this. Nora (Kristen Hager) is back with what she calls a cure.

The second clip is just too juicy for a description other than to say that when you bring home two of Aidan's conquests and leave them alone for a minute, things get rather strained. Just watch. You'll be laughing and gripping your seat. Lesson: Do not wear distinct perfume when sleeping with a vampire.

The lives of Aidan, Sally, and Josh are turned upside down by people from their pasts. Aidan’s mother returns while Josh’s relationship is at stake when someone from his past surfaces.

In "Being Human" leading normal lives is a lot harder than it looks for three roommates – vampire Aidan (Sam Witwer), ghost Sally (Meaghan Rath), and werewolf Josh (Sam Huntington) – who share their secrets and a Boston brownstone.

"Lost Girl" Episode 1.11 - "Faetal Justice" (3/26/12 Air Date):

The Walking Dead: Looking Back on an Uneven Second Season

The Walking Dead: Looking Back on an Uneven Second Season

Looking back at The Walking Dead's second season, it's hard not to make a pun about the show itself rising from the grave. Because let's face it: by the time the show reached its midseason hiatus back in December, things were looking pretty bleak. The show had been in a creative nosedive since its second season premiere in October, with only three of its seven aired episodes ("What Lies Ahead," "Save the Last One," and "Pretty Much Dead Already") coming even close to being as enthralling as the show's six-episode first season. And things looked like they could only get worse: the entire second half of the season was produced entirely without any input from fired executive producer Frank Darabont, who was largely the creative visionary behind the show up until that point.

But then, the second season resumed with "Nebraska, »

'Being Human': Sam Witwer on what's coming in the finale and Season 3

19 March 2012 4:21 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

We got a chance to chat with "Being Human" star Sam Witwer who plays Aidan the vampire. Aidan has been super-dark this season, what, with the neck-breaking and blood-sucking, but we just can't get enough of him! Witwer gives us a preview of the next episode, talks about his cast mates and what's coming in Season 3.

Witwer tells us about how the season is going to end, in terms of the relationships between the roommates. "They're going to come together and then they'll fracture a lot more," he says. In the next episode ... it's almost entirely me and Sally (Meaghan Rath) and Josh (Sam Huntington). You do see the fracture growing bigger. And one of the themes of the third season will be getting the band back together."

Witwer says he still worries that people will think Aidan has gone too dark. "I still think people might feel like that. »

Star Wars Clone Wars – Darth Maul Tidbits

Actor Sam Witwer is going from bloodsucker to Star Wars: Clone Wars‘ Darth Maul. You probably recognize him as Aidan from Syfy’s series Being Human. Many fans are seeing him, or at least hearing him, in a whole new light, however. Get your light saber ready. You’re going to need it.

EW had the news confirming Witwer, who just so happened to voice “The Son” on The Clone Wars’ third season as well as Darth Vader’s super secret apprentice, “Starkiller”, in The Force Unleashed videogames, is coming back for more evil in the universe. Who better to voice Darth Maul?

Previously, on Star Wars: The Clone Wars, on the last episode, titled “Brothers”, it was revealed that Darth Maul wasn’t actually dead. Yes, we all saw Obi-Wan Kenobi cut the black and red faced villain in half, the Dark Side is a mysterious place. Maul has »

Sam Witwer on Darth Maul's 'Clone Wars' Resurrection: 'He's going to be around for a little bit' -Exclusive

16 March 2012 12:33 PM, PDT | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

Last week’s episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, “Brothers,” featured a canon-shattering revelation: Darth Maul had survived being cut in half by Obi-Wan Kenobi and was hiding out on the garbage planet Lotho Minor. His reentry into that galaxy far, far away is one of the creepier things we’ve ever seen from the Star Wars saga, not just because of the spider legs Maul’s somehow conjured for himself from the dark side of the Force, but because his shattered mental state hinted at the deepest, murkiest kind of psychological darkness.

Who better to play that than Sam Witwer? »
