Natalie Portman treated her son, Aleph Millepied, to a fun afternoon around Paris yesterday after spending Mother's Day weekend together in La. She took her little one for a ride on a carrousel in the Jardin des Plantes followed by a stroll through a flowery park. Gaumont is set to reteam with Quad, the shingle behind “The Intouchables,” on “Ballerina,” a $30 million English-language 3D family toon.
Now in pre-production, the 1884-set animated fare, helmed by Canadian duo Eric Warin and Eric Summer, tells the tale of Felice, an 11-year-old orphan girl from Brittany who dreams of becoming a ballerina at the Paris Opera. Together with Corentin, a little boy she meets at the orphanage, Felice flees to Paris to chase her dream.
Ballet dancer Benjamin Millepied (“Black Swan”) has been tapped to supervise the choreography. Motion capture will be used to record Millepied’s performance. Bruno Coulais (“Farewell My Queen”) wrote the original score.
Nicolas Duval, Laurent Zeitoun and Yann Zenou are producing. Gaumont is co-producing, and reps “Ballerina” for international markets and will distribute in Gaul. Meanwhile, eOne has nabbed all distribution rights for Canada.

Natalie Portman and her husband, Benjamin Millepied, were all smiles as they attended the 2013 Vanity Fair Oscars party at the Sunset Tower Hotel in West Hollywood, Calif., last night.
The lovey-dovey couple looked stunning as they made their way down the red carpet, hand-in-hand. Portman was dressed in head-to-toe Dior and sported Anna Hu jewels, while Millepied wore a suit by Saint Laurent. (P.S. It looks like Portman could be hiding a baby bump under that gown, no?)
The 31-year-old actress, who won an Oscar for her role in "Black Swan" in 2011, took a break from mommy duty to enjoy a night out with her leading man. The pair, as well as their 21-month-old son Aleph, will be moving to Paris soon as Millepied, 35, begins his new job as the director of dance at the Paris Opera Ballet in September 2014.

Question: What do you get when you combine "Thriller, " dubstep, and the zombie apocalypse? Answer: Benjamin Millepied's music video directorial debut.
The dance choreographer made famous by "Black Swan" -- and, let's be honest, by knocking up Natalie Portman -- directed a video for "Demons" by Zeds Dead, as part of a collaboration between Belvedere vodka and Noisey. The Music Video Project is pairing up "non-traditional" music video directors and artists willing to have a vodka ad slapped on the end of their video.
"The collaborative process here is interesting because you pick a song that you like, you have ideas, and then you put them on paper," says Millepied. "You also have a band who has a specific image, and then you add the film coloring and special effects. I think everybody brought something special to the video."
The special concept behind the video seems to be a zombie dance-off, »

Choreographer who married Natalie Portman after preparing her for Oscar-winning role is new Palais Garnier chief
Benjamin Millepied, the choreographer who helped transform Natalie Portman into an obsessed, paranoid ballerina for the film Black Swan – before marrying her – has been named director of one of the world's most revered ballet companies, the Paris Opera Ballet.
Portman and Millepied, who have a son, met during the making of Darren Aronofsky's psychological thriller, which stars Portman as a troubled ballet dancer. Portman won the best actress Academy Award for her performance in the movie.
Millepied, 35, is a former principal dancer with the New York City Ballet, but has no previous ties to the company, and is known for his innovative work outside classical ballet. In 2001 he left Nycb to found his own dance company in Los Angeles, La Dance Project. Although French, he trained largely in the Us.

His official duties don't start until September 2014, but the role may mean an earlier return to Benjamin's home country. Natalie, Benjamin, and their son, Aleph, have visited France before as part of their many travels. Natalie Portman is one lucky lady. Not only is she married to a super hot professional dancer, but his new gig gives them a great excuse to purchase a residence in Paris.
Benjamin Millepied, who Portman met and fell in love with while filming "Black Swan," has been named the new director of dance at the Paris Opera Ballet. He will serve as the successor to Brigitte Lefevre, who acted as director since 1995 and plans to retire either in 2013 or 2014.
Millepied's new gig will start in September 2014, and The New York Times reports that his appointment comes as a shock. Many expected that the new director would be chosen from a past or present member of the Paris Opera Ballet company. Millepied, 35, retired from professional dancing in 2011.
"I certainly knew about the position, but I also knew that there were candidates from within the company," Millepied told the Times prior to this announcement. »
