Sheila Da Silva is a Venezuelan editor and filmmaker based in Los Angeles, California.
Since she was a child, Sheila has always shown interest in audiovisual media, arts, and music. She fell in love with storytelling and in 2007 while pursuing a BFA in Fine Arts, Mixed Media Major at the National Experimental University of the Arts, she discovered her passion for editing. She went on to create experimental narrative videos/films. In 2011, her first short film "L'âme Jaune" (Yellow Soul) was screened at the French Festival in the Pedagogical College of Caracas, and her video performance "Cuida" (Care) was featured at the Contemporary Art Museum Sofía Imber. In 2012, she graduated and presented her video-installation "Union Esencia" (Essence Union) that included a 15min short film, split into 4 stories. Sheila also experimented with 2D animation, stop motion, music, and sound design for the project. During her studies, she worked on an independent TV channel as a broadcasting-TV news videographer and editor. She also played the guitar and sang for various rock bands, participating in music festivals and various venues.
Between the years 2014 - 2018 she lived in San Francisco, California, where she pursued a Masters in Motion Pictures & Television - Editing Major at the Academy of Art University, and finally, in 2019 she relocated to Los Angeles, where she settled and works contract basis with various studios and independent filmmakers on multiple projects like unscripted television, short films, music videos, documentaries, digital content, social media ads, branded TV infomercials, and assisted on a feature film.
