A brand new Us TV show, Camelot, begins filming at Ardmore Studios in Wicklow this week. The 10 part series will be filmed in the same location as the hit series starring Johnathon Rhys Myers, The Tudors. The series is expected to generate up to $35million for the local economy over the next 22 weeks. Ardmore Studios managing director Kevin Moriarty said Camelot was building on the success of the Tudors which took place over the last four years. "A series like Camelot provides ongoing economic activity in various film-related services over a prolonged period," he said. Moriarty said that Ardmores professional approach to The Tudors has attracted the attention of many Us and Canadian producers. "I think it’s fair to say that The Tudors convinced a lot of producers outside this country that Ireland can provide production values that can match the best in the business,” he said.
