Former The Sopranos actor Vincent Pastore continued to plead not guilty to an alleged assault on his ex-girlfriend in a New York City court on Thursday, as a judge presided over a plea bargain for the TV star. The 58-year-old actor, who played Salvatore 'Big Pussy' Bonpensiero in the mob drama, stands accused of smashing his actress fiancee Lisa Regina's head against his car dashboard and dragging her out by her hair in Manhattan's Little Italy in May. Regina, 44, claims she was treated for cuts and bruises, following the alleged assault. Pastore has pleaded not guilty to four misdemeanour charges, including two for assault, one for attempted assault and harassment. If found guilty, Pastore could face up to 12 months behind bars. Regina's lawyers have offered to drop all charges against Pastore on the condition he undergoes 10 days of community service and enrol in a domestic abuse programme. After Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Ellen Coin set a September 26 trial date yesterday, Pastore or his attorney Dominic Barbara made no comment about whether the actor would accept the plea bargain.
