This is how a super-fan is born
So long, and thanks for all the fish. It is with a heavy but excited and hopeful heart that I make my exit from HitFix. I can honestly say that it has been my honor to be a part of this team. I will continue to follow the work of the brilliant writers and content creators on this site, just as I did before I arrived. It's been remarkable to have the opportunity to speak with the folks who are absolutely at the top of their respective fields about their passions: Drew on film and Alan on TV. It's like having some of the best dinner conversations of your life as your job. The same can be said of Chris Eggertsen, who specializes in horror (and, yes, Howard Stern), and Donna Dickens in geek culture, who it has been my pleasure to fan-fic and debate with in our She Saids.

Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler Are Getting Married — Not Just in Your Dreams, Also in a Movie
According to Variety, Amy Poehler is in final negotiations to join Will Ferrell in the upcoming comedy The House. They'll play a married couple who spend their daughter's college savings, which inspires them to turn their basement into an illegal casino. Comical suburban shenigans will ensue. The script comes from Neighbors' Brendan O'Brien and Andrew J. Cohen (who is also directing), while Ferrell and Adam McKay will produce. Poehler and Ferrell overlapped for just one season on Saturday Night Live and were last seen together in Blades of Glory, which means that O'Brien and Cohen had better have some Kanye-friendly one-liners ready.

Adam DeVine to Star in 'Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates'

Adam DeVine to Star in 'Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates'
Just one month after actor Zac Efron signed on to play Mike in the 20th Century Fox comedy Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Workaholics star Adam DeVine has signed on to play Dave. The comedy centers on two brothers who place an online ad to find dates to an upcoming wedding. The plot thickens when their ad goes viral.

Zac Efron had been testing with several other actors over the past few weeks, with the studio hoping to find the co-star who had just the right chemistry with Zac Efron. Variety's sources claim that it was Adam DeVine's "mix of wit and raunchiness in his delivery" that ended up landing him the role opposite Zac Efron.

Zac Efron to Star in 'Mark & Dave Need Wedding Dates' for Fox

After bringing some pretty big laughs in last summer's hit comedy Neighbors, young star Zac Efron is sticking with comedy for a new project called Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. As if the title wasn't explanatory enough, THR reports the film will follow two brothers who post an online ad for wedding dates. Presumably they'll encounter some bad options in their search, making for some comedy. The film will actually reunite Efront with Neighbors producers and writers Andrew J. Cohen and Brendan O'Brien, who also had scripting duties on this new comedy set up at Fox. But just who will be directing? Jake Szymanski will be directing, and he already worked with Efron on this Funny or Die short: Szymanski also has experience directing several episodes of "Saturday Night Live," as well as a Christmas episode of "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" back in 2013, and tons more shorts for Funny or Die.

Elementary Review: A Matter of Perception

  • TVfanatic
With Flu season upon us, it was fun to see what happened when our favorite deductive investigator is not at the top of his game in "You Do It To Yourself," which mostly involved him being one-up’ed by Watson and Bell.

It was awesome that Detective Bell actually stumped Holmes with the Mahjong tiles being a club pass. I wish he had held out a little longer and had made Holmes actually ask him about them. But, the blank stare that Holmes gave him totally made up for it and had me rolling with laughter.

Then we had Watson, who was at the top of her game. The conversation about the tea she made him from her mom’s recipe was priceless. Had Holmes not been sick, I’m sure he would have seen the folly in asking a former doctor about the medicinal properties of the herbs she just gave him.

Album Trailers Are The New Thing: Check Out The Clip For The Killers' Battle Born

Yesterday it was Muse and today it's the Killers … album trailers are officially the new thing!

The Killers revealed the trailer for their fall 2012 release Battle Born on their Vevo page today (June 7) and the sound is, well, very much like most other Killers albums. Things kick off with some ambient sounds that evolve into a heavy synth line, which itself builds to a crescendo before introducing some drums. Sounds about right.

Visually, the clip opens on a sunset before seguing to a campfire intercut with a montage of shots of the band and flashes to the album title being spelled out letter by letter.

NME reports that track titles confirmed for Battle Born include "Heart Of A Girl," "Flesh And Bone," "Carry Me Home" and "Runaways." The band is again working with producer Stuart Price, who previously worked with the band on their last effort, 2008's Day & Age, and

Casting News: Seth Rogen and Zac Efron Join Forces, a New Recruit for World War Z, Judge Added to The Dark Knight Rises

While it seems like an odd pairing, Zac Efron and Seth Rogen are teaming up for an untitled comedy from Universal Pictures.

Deadline reports that Universal won a day-long bidding battle for the movie, which benefited from a summer of successful, R-rated comedies. Rogen and his Superbad and Pineapple Express writing partner Evan Goldberg will produce the movie, scripted by Andrew Cohen and Brendan O'Brien. The movie will follow Rogen as a regular guy living near a raucous fraternity house, where Efron is a member, whose life is disrupted by the fraternity's behavior.

Casting Bits: Zac Efron and Seth Rogen Team for R-Rated Comedy, Hilary Swank Joins ‘Shrapnel’, Bryan Cranston Pulls Out of ‘Gangster Squad’

Casting Bits: Zac Efron and Seth Rogen Team for R-Rated Comedy, Hilary Swank Joins ‘Shrapnel’, Bryan Cranston Pulls Out of ‘Gangster Squad’
[1] Zac Efron and Seth Rogen are set to team up for an untitled R-rated comedy based on a pitch by Judd Apatow associates Andrew Cohen and Brendan O'Brien. The pairing itself seems unlikely enough, but perhaps even more surprising is which role each actor will play -- in this film, it'll be funnyman Rogen who plays the straight man, while the clean-cut Efron tackles the part of a hard-partying frat boy. The story revolves around Rogen's character, a normal guy with the bad fortune to live next door to Efron's loud, obnoxious frat house. Rogen is also set to produce the film along with his partner Evan Goldberg. [Deadline [2]] After the jump, Hilary Swank picks up a graphic novel adaptation, while Ruben Fleischer's star-studded Gangster Squad loses a cast member. Hilary Swank will be boarding the comic book movie bandwagon with Shrapnel, based on a graphic novel written by Nick Sagan
