Bryan Cranston interview: Wakefield, Better Call Saul, Curb Your Enthusiasm

Paul Martinovic Aug 3, 2017

The great Bryan Cranston talks to us about his new film Wakefield, his signature role in Breaking Bad, and lots more...

Despite being one of the most in demand actors on the planet, we were lucky enough to catch up with Bryan Cranston while he was over in the UK to promote his new film Wakefield, a dark, literate tale of midlife crisis and male entitlement. Our interview took place mere hours after the Breaking Bad star scandalised the nation’s breakfast tables by casually dropping the word ‘shite’ in an interview on Good Morning Britain with a star struck Kate Garraway. Of course, Bryan Cranston being Bryan Cranston, nobody really minded all that much.

Ryan Reynolds Defends Naming His Daughter James After His Dad: "It's Not Like Summer Squash Meadow Lark"

Ryan Reynolds Defends Naming His Daughter James After His Dad:
Oh, what's in a name? Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively weren't trying to reinvent the wheel when they decided to call their daughter James Reynolds. But, when Ryan made an appearance on ITV's Good Morning Britain Friday, co-host Kate Garraway asked why they gave James a name traditionally given to boys, calling the decision "unusual." Ryan explained that they chose the name as a tribute to his dad, James C. Reynolds, 74, who died last year after a 20-year battle with Parkinson's disease. "In the spectrum of weird celebrity baby names, I feel like we're not really breaking any new ground here," Ryan said. "I mean, I didn't call her Summer Squash Meadow Lark, or...

Kate Garraway's Christmas grotto

Kate Garraway turns her car into a Christmas ''grotto'' every year. The 'Good Morning Britain' presenter - who has kids Darcey, 10, and Jack, five, with husband Derek Draper - knows driving to visit people can be one of the most ''dull'' parts of the festive season so she and her spouse do what they can to make it fun. She said: ''Since Derek and I have been married, we've spent Christmas Eve up in Manchester with my in-laws. ''Because the drive is so dull, we make the car into a grotto with decorations and Christmas music and we dress up. ''Derek was a

Helen Mirren Scolded After Slip-Up on Live TV, Says She Doesn't Understand the ''Fascination'' With Her Youthful Appearance: Watch!
Even the queen can commit a faux pax.  Helen Mirren was given a slap on the wrist when she appeared on Good Morning Britain on Tuesday morning, where she accidentally swore on live TV, prompting a hilarious response from the Oscar winner, who appeared a bit perplexed by the hosts' reaction to her slip-up.  The 70-year-old Woman in Gold star was recounting a story about a camping trip she took in the eighties with then-boyfriend Liam Neeson, telling presenters Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway, "I love camping and I still do and I miss camping, my husband unfortunately doesn't want to camp... I went camping with an ex-boyfriend of mine, Liam Neeson. I lived with him for four years and we...

God-Dame! Helen Mirren swears on TV again as she turns the air blue on Good Morning Britain

She may be a Dame but Helen Mirren certainly doesn't give a damn when it comes to turning the air royal blue in public - and she's at it again.

The Oscar winner brought equal amounts of class and filth to the Good Morning Britain sofa this morning (July 28), although you can judge for yourselves whether the Queen star's potty mouth was really such a punishable crime.

Talking about a camping trip to in Cornwall with her former boyfriend Liam Neeson, the 70-year-old matter-of-factly recalled how it "pissed with rain", which was enough to send ITV into a panicked tizzy.

Presenters Ben Shephard and Kate Garraway immediately jumped in and apologised, with Shephard nervously adding: "You can't say things like that first thing in the morning."

But she's got good form when it comes to dishing out the swears. Last year, Mirren made headlines for delivering all manner of expletives

Dermot O'Leary isn't ruling out presenting Top Gear but won't be doing Strictly

Could Dermot O'Leary be swapping The X Factor for Top Gear?

Although the presenter 'doubts' that he will join Chris Evans on the new-look motoring show, he refused to rule out the idea on Good Morning Britain this morning (June 23).

O'Leary said of the series: "I love my cars but I think Chris would probably... He's such a main man and he's a big deal for me - he's one of the reasons why I got into television in the first place - but I would imagine he'd want his own team on it."

When host Kate Garraway pushed that O'Leary "could be part of that team", he replied: "I doubt it."

However, he refused to rule the possibility out, adding: "The thing is, I think if I was going to do it I'd want to do what Chris is doing - he's in charge of it."

He then went

Ofcom to investigate Good Morning Britain over Nigel Farage interview

Good Morning Britain is being investigated by Ofcom over Nigel Farage's recent appearance.

The ITV breakfast show is accused of breaching impartiality rules when the Ukip leader was interviewed by Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard on May 1.

The presenters asked Farage about his chances of being elected as MP for South Thanet, but failed to reflect the position of other candidates standing in the constituency.

An Ofcom spokesperson said: "Ofcom is investigating whether the programme was duly impartial to ask Nigel Farage about his prospects of winning the Thanet South constituency without reflecting the position of other candidates."

Farage failed to be elected as an MP and subsequently resigned as leader of Ukip. However, he was reinstated just days later after the party rejected his decision.

Last week, BBC News reporter Norman Smith accidentally used the word "c**t" during a report on Farage and tensions within his party.

Ben Shephard "really proud" of Good Morning Britain

Ben Shephard has said that he is "really proud" of Good Morning Britain.

The presenter co-hosts the ITV breakfast programme, which was this week rumoured to be facing the axe after drawing fewer than 300,000 viewers, though the broadcaster has denied such claims.

Good Morning Britain one month on: Is the breakfast show doomed?

"We're loving it. It's a fantastic team," Shephard told Digital Spy ahead of Soccer Aid.

"We're really proud of what we're doing. It's been amazing. I think we've got a great camaraderie amongst us and everyone's really enjoying it. That's the most important thing."

Shephard co-hosts the programme with Susanna Reid, Charlotte Hawkins, Ranvir Singh, Kate Garraway and Sean Fletcher.

Asked about juggling the breakfast show with his Soccer Aid training, Shephard added: "I've been finishing with Susanna and then coming over here and running around.

"There's nothing better than playing football with your mates to keep you bang up for it.

Good Morning Britain: Reactions and reviews round-up

ITV launched its latest attempt in the breakfast TV war earlier today (April 28), with Good Morning Britain landing on our screens.

Susanna Reid, Ben Shephard, Sean Fletcher and Charlotte Hawkins co-hosted the brand new format, following Daybreak's end on Friday. But how well did they fare?

Most of the early reviews appear to be largely positive, with most people commenting on its similarity with Us morning show Good Morning America. Digital Spy has compiled a round-up of reviews and reactions from around the web below:

Critic Reviews

Alex Fletcher - Digital Spy

"The new 'serious news' format for Good Morning Britain feels like it's having to battle with ITV's natural lean towards fluff. The presentation of 'One Direction talking loves and relationships' as breaking news undermines a lot of the hard work they're putting in elsewhere. Do ITV really believe we can't absorb some serious news in the morning

Daybreak ends: ITV's morning show waves goodbye

ITV's morning show Daybreak aired its final edition this morning (April 25).

Aled Jones co-hosted the final instalment with Kate Garraway, ahead of the launch of Good Morning Britain on Monday.

Good Morning Britain co-host Ben Shephard also joined the presenters to show viewers the set of his upcoming show.

"Good luck to Ben and the whole team actually," said Jones. "I'll be watching definitely."

Jones will begin hosting his new ITV morning show Weekend tomorrow at 8.30am. It will also air on Sundays at the same time.

Garraway added: "We don't have to miss you at all, do we? We don't have to get lovey dovey or anything."

The pair then embraced for a hug, before saying goodbye to the show for good.

Daybreak launched back in 2010, with hosts Christine Bleakley and Adrian Chiles. However, due to disappointing ratings, it was revamped in 2012 with new hosts Lorraine Kelly and Jones.
