CBS has greenlighted two primetime specials to raise money for disadvantaged children worldwide.
Titled Why Listen and Listen Live, the specials will air on two consecutive nights in July, to benefit the Listen Charity Campaign 2007, a worldwide campaign set up to fund numerous charity projects worldwide.
The one-hour Why Listen, to be executive produced by Susan Zirinsky (CBS' 48 Hours), will chronicle six celebrities' trips to different countries where they will meet children in need and groups working to help them.
The two-hour Listen Live, will be executive produced by Tony Hollingsworth, executive producer of the Listen Campaign and CEO of the London-based Tribute Third Millennium Ltd. It will showcase stars from film, music, television, literature and the visual arts talking about the needs and rights of impoverished and exploited children. During the special, viewers will be able to call in and make donations.
CBS' announcement comes on the heels of Fox's recently announced two-night American Idol charity event set to help needy children that will feature Bono, Pink, Gwen Stefani and Annie Lennox.
