Ksenia Solo, is best known for her roles in "Black Swan" and "Lost Girl," was born in Latvia on October 8th 1987. Her parents moved to Canada after the unrest in 1987 that lead to Latvia declaring independence from the USSR in 1990.
Although she originally aspired to an actress and ballerina, as was her mother, she was forced to stop dancing due to a back injury when she was 14. Her acting career started in the theater at 5 years old and on film by the age of 10. At the age of 18 she became the only person to have won back-to-back Gemini awards as 'Best Performance In A Youth Television Series' in 2005 and 2006.
Solo's ethnic background is Russian.

Solo made her theatre debut at the tender age of 5. At age 10 she landed her first Television role playing "Princess Xhanthippe" in the popular Canadian kids Series 'I Was A Sixth Grade Alien', along side Michael Cera. By the age of 18 she became the youngest recipient to ever receive two consecutive Gemini Awards in 2005 and 2006 for her portrayal of the young journalist "Zoey Jones" in the edgy teen drama Renegadepress.com.
In 2010 after an international search, Ksenia was handpicked by Darren Aronofsky (Noah, The Wrestler, Requiem for A Dream) to play the cruel nemesis, "Veronica", to Natalie Portman's "Nina" in the five time Oscar nominated film Black Swan. The same year Solo was named one of the 55 faces of The Future of Hollywood by Nylon Magazine alongside Chloe Moretz, Liam Hemsworth and Michael B. Jordan. The Italian press named Solo one of three 'Sexiest Women' of the 67th Venice Film Festival along with Natalie Portman and Jessica Alba.
That same year Solo started filming the fantasy-noir Television Drama Lost Girl, which later became a Sci-Fi sensation and one of the top ten most downloaded shows in the world. Shortly after, Solo won her third Gemini award for Best Performance in a Featured Supporting Role for her portrayal of "Kenzi" on the hit show.
In 2011 Solo played "Dodge" in the highly anticipated comic book adaptation, FOX/DreamWorks project Locke & Key which was directed by Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go, One Hour Photo) and executive produced by Steven Spielberg. Ksenia also began production on CW's Life UneXpected starring opposite Britt Robertson.
In 2013, Solo was nominated for the first ever Canadian Screen Awards for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Supporting Role in a Dramatic Series for her work as "Kenzi" on Lost Girl.
The following year Solo wrapped a 5 year run on the Sci-Fi drama and won the role of "Peggy Shippen" in AMC's historical drama TURN: Washingtons Spies.
In her spare time Solo is an advocate for polio eradication and passionately works along side End Polio Now and Global Health Strategies to spread awareness about the disease among her generation. She is also on the board of directors for Stand For The Silent, an anti bullying organization which offers awareness, education and tools for young people to deal with bullying and the devastation it causes.
