On the Geek Stage at SXSW’s Interactive Festival main hall, Marvel execs chanted their lifelong mantra of keeping the fans part of the Marvel world.
“We’re here to talk about how you are part of the Marvel universe,” Arune Singh, Marvel’s exec director of TV communications, said. “Since the beginning we’ve made our fans part of the our universe.”
And they made good on that promise by patching in via satellite Brian Michael Bendis, the creator and producer of the Marvel comics “Ultimate Spider-Man” and “New Avengers,” and Clark Gregg, star of ABC’s “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”
Marvel revealed a few new tricks up its sleeve, including an updated version of Marvel Augmented Reality that debuted at SXSW in 2012, new anniversary editions of “Ultimate Spider-Man,” “X-Men” and “Gardens of the Galaxy,” and an Application Programming Interface where programmers can access Marvel artwork to pull »

While on our set visit to Marvel's Captain America: The Winter Soldier, our small group of journalists had a chance to interview screenwriters Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus. The pens behind the sequel, McFeely and Markus are responsible for sending Cap (Chris Evans) along a path fraught with danger and betrayal, as befits their inspirational material: Ed Brubaker's "Winter Soldier" storyline and 70s political thriller movies. While on set, McFeely and Markus talked about deciding to write a conspiracy thriller, Steve Rogers as "A Man Out of Time", comic book and film influences, the conflicting moral styles of Captain America and Black Widow, and having the movie stand on its own merits rather than setting up a future installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Hit the jump for the interview. Stephen McFeely: I just want to say, whenever I Google myself I go to all of your sites, »

A while back, I posted a theory that Captain America: The Winter Soldier is greatly influenced by a 1988 six issue miniseries, Nick Fury vs S.H.I.E.L.D., written by Bob Harras and Paul Neary. To sum up a long story, S.H.I.E.L.D. is infiltrated by an outside, malevolent force that corrupts its policies and practices in such a covert manner that only Nick Fury realizes what is happening. We don't know for sure yet, but it appears that something of that ilk may be happening on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and in the Russo Bros.' Captain America sequel. Clevver Movies spoke to Mulvey about his Marvel role (he plays Jack Rollins, a central S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent in the 1998 comic book story), as well as his role in 300: Rise of an Empire. Mulvey's career is definitely trending in the right direction. »

There are several reasons why the upcoming Captain America: The Winter Soldier seems poised to reach new creative heights for a Marvel Studios production, not least of which is that Cap’s (Chris Evans) coworkers at S.H.I.E.L.D. - Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Falcon (Anthony Mackie) – seem to be treated like his genuine equals in the film, rather than glorified eye candy or kowtowing sidekicks.
Marvel has released another featurette for the Captain America sequel, which shifts the magnifying glass ever so closer onto Natasha Romanoff, including (but not restricted to) her evolved working relationship with Steve Rogers – who, as is brought up during cast interviews in the latest preview, forms a yin-yang circle with Natasha, in terms of the differences between their respective personal moral/ethical codes.
Two years have passed since the events in The Avengers – both in the ...

A new promotional clip for Captain America: The Winter Soldier has been unveiled.
Despite collaborating on "many different missions" in the intervening period, Chris Evans adds that the duo are still "an odd pairing".
"[Black Widow] has very questionable morality and makes a living lying," he continues, "Captain couldn't do it if he tried."
"[She's] a very strong, independent, intelligent woman who has seen the darkest places," adds Johansson, "and we get to play with that a little bit."
The film also introduces a new ally alongside Evans and Johansson's partnership, the Falcon (played by Anthony Mackie).

With the reveal and preview at the end of this weeks episode of Marvel's Agents Of Shield, many fans may be diverting the majority of their attention to the many possibilities lying outside of our world in the McU. 'Agent Skye' actress Chloe Bennet however, feels that we may want to keep an eye on what's happening on planet earth, at least for the next month or so. ""If anyone sees a trailer for 'Captain America,' you'll notice that Shield is a huge part of what is happening in the movie, just by all the talk of Shield and all the Shield logos everywhere, so definitely there's a crossover of things happening. I can't tell you how much, but I can tell you that it is insane." She continued, speculating that there may be more than one episode tying into the upcoming political thriller. "It will heavily affect »

Almost as if in response to all of the fan speculation about the status of the Black Widow in Marvel's upcoming Avengers sequel now that Scarlett Johansson is pregnant, the studio has released an extended preview clip from Captain America: The Winter Soldier that shows that Black Widow will be getting plenty of action alongside Cap (Chris Evans), if not with the rest of the team. The clip showcases the friendship that has formed between Widow and Cap as they banter about dating while infiltrating a ship controlled by Batroc, an old Cap villain ripped right from the pages of Captain America comics.
