10 May 2012 7:31 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

After having its ‘premiere’ at SXSW, the official trailer has been released for upcoming indie drama Crazy Eyes.

Revolving around the drink-swigging world of Zach (Lukas HaasContraband), we follow his exploits from bar to bar, picking up various women…until he encounters Rebecca aka Crazy Eyes (played by Madeline Zima). After falling for her, all he wants to do is chase after her – he wants what he can’t have. With a visit from his parents and a son who needs his attention, Zach feels pressured to change his life. Will he? Who knows!

Directed by Adam Sherman (this is his second directorial project after Happiness Runs), the film also stars Tania Raymonde, Ray Wise, Ned Bellamy, Valerie Mahaffey, Elena Levon and Jake Busey (who looks exactly like his father, Gary Busey).

This could be quite successful around the indie circuit, but being released around the same time as »

Watch: Whimsical Trailer for Indie 'Crazy Eyes' Starring Lukas Haas

9 May 2012 3:19 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"I will die without Crazy Eyes!" Strand Releasing has debuted the official trailer for indie dramedy Crazy Eyes, starring Lukas Haas and Madeline Zima and Jake Busey. This quirky little dramatic comedy is set mostly in Los Angeles, following a "rich boy" who meets a girl unlike anyone he calls "Crazy Eyes" that he can't have, but of course there's all kinds of tension and drama and things going on. I'm a fan of Lukas Haas, you may recognize him from Brick or Alpha Dog or Death in Love or Inception or Contraband, and I like seeing him in good lead roles where he really fits the role. This looks intriguing, I'm curious to check it out. Watch the official trailer for Adam Sherman's Crazy Eyes, in high def from Apple: With too much money and time on his hands, Zach (Haas) looks like he's living the dream. There's »

First Trailer for Crazy Eyes with Lukas Haas and Madeline Zima

9 May 2012 11:22 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Starring Lukas Haas (Inception) in the lead, Crazy Eyes is due out in the Us this summer and has had its first trailer debut tonight.

Adam Sherman (Hapiness Runs, producer of Wristcutters: A Love Story) returns behind the camera for his second film, and Apple have debuted the first trailer ahead of its July release in the Us.

Though it won’t be topping the box office (going up against The Amazing Spider-Man), it looks promising and will hopefully find its audience.

“With too much money and time on his hands, Zach (Lukas Haas) looks like he’s living the dream. There’s a steady stream of beautiful women and the party never ends. He meets a girl he calls “Crazy Eyes” (Madeline Zima), and she’s unlike anyone he’s ever met before. She’s the one woman Zach can’t have, so naturally he wants her. While Zach »

SXSW 2012 Review: Crazy Eyes

26 March 2012 11:06 AM, PDT | GordonandtheWhale | See recent GordonandtheWhale news »

Guest Review: Britt Hayes is the North American Editor for Brutal As Helland a Contributing Writer for Reel Vixen.

Zach (Lukas Haas) is a wealthy, alcoholic womanizer who spends his evenings getting loaded and calling every woman in his cell phone, looking for someone to keep him company. The opening tells us that this story is a work of fiction; Zach tells us his story is true - but to what end? Thanks to his vast fortune (the genesis of which is never explained), Zach has most women greedily pecking from his hand, except for one. Rebecca (Madeline Zima) is an artistic ne'er do well with a feisty streak; a complicated woman, who, like most of us, seemingly has no idea what she wants.

[SXSW Review] Crazy Eyes

19 March 2012 7:00 AM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

There’s very little redemption in Crazy Eyes, a film that opens with the type of disclosure that appears buried in the end credits next to the copyright information – that the film is a work of fiction. True, but this is the story of many men, women and families torn apart by addiction. Zach (Lukas Haas) is a wealthy Los Angelino. He hates the city – proclaiming its filled with carbon copies or carbon copies as he pre-games at his wood top mansion before heading out for the evening. Lonely, divorced and drunk he finally reaches Rebecca, “Crazy Eyes” (Madeline Zima) whom he takes to a local dive bar, gets drunk and is upset when she won’t sleep with him.

Adam Sherman’s film shows the dark side of partying, the doing coke until your knees bleeds, waking up next to someone whom you don’t know or care about, »

SXSW 2012 Review: Dirty, Sexy, Dark ‘Crazy Eyes’ Is Love Story for Anti-Romantics

14 March 2012 5:52 PM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

As a romantic subgenre, the alcoholic love story doesn’t typically hit upon anything fantastically new or groundbreaking – drink, fight, cry, love, repeat until something terrible happens – but director and co-writer Adam Sherman and his charming cast have done something wonderful with their Crazy Eyes. Sherman and stars Lukas Haas and Madeline Zima have injected life and humor into their story of two shiftless Hollywood alcoholics and their maybe-love story. In terms of fitting into its genre, Crazy Eyes feels a bit like a more light-hearted Leaving Las Vegas or a more energetic Somewhere – comparisons that are meant as compliments. Before we even meet Haas’ Zach, he warns us via voiceover that his story is true, and that the movie’s “all persons fictitious” disclaimer (the “is purely coincidental” paragraph that accompanies works of fiction) is a lie of its own. But Zack is a drunk, a boozehound, an alcoholic of the highest order – and someone who »

Crazy Eyes: SXSW Reviews

14 March 2012 2:59 PM, PDT | The Movie Pool | See recent The Movie Pool news »

A dark, realistic character study that isn't for the easily offended.

Director: Adam Sherman

Writers: Adam Sherman, Dave Reeves, Rachel Hardisty

Stars: Lukas Haas, Madeline Zima and Jake Busey

Of all the films screening at SXSW this year 'Crazy Eyes' was one of the first to get cut from my schedule. At first glance it was easy to assume I'd seen too many of these types of films before. You know the type: guy can get any girl he wants but wants the one he can't have. Still, at the last minute I decided to take a risk and catch the premiere screening. As soon as the credits rolled I knew I had found my festival favorite.

Synopsis: Zach, a wealthy, alcoholic divorcee and father, is torn between his past love and present infatuation. His obsession for Rebecca, who he affectionately calls Crazy Eyes, seems to be driving »

'Nashville,' 'Gilded Lilys' and more ABC pilots we're looking forward to for 2012-13

In about two months, the networks will start revealing their programming lineups for the 2012-13 season. But Zap2it would like to give you a head start about which ones have caught our eyes. Plus, there are so many pilots and actors filling up roles being announced that we would also like to hopefully simplify things for you.

The (enormous) caveat is, of course, that we haven't seen these pilots because most of them haven't finished (or even started) filming yet. But here are the pilots from ABC that we think look promising.

2012 TV Pilot Review – Soaps and Remakes

9 March 2012 6:29 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

After the high profile and, what Hollywood execs like to call “high concept” shows of last week’s article, this week I will be going through new pilots which follow two trends I like to call “remaking is breaking” and “Desperate Housewives is over and Grey’s Anatomy has got to end sometime”.

Grey’s Anatomy and Desperate Housewives have been big ratings pulls in the coveted demographic (18-49 if you don’t know) for ABC and have meant big advertising bucks. And, even though Grey’s prolific creator Shonda Rhimes, who will be show running three to five shows next season depending on pickups, has claimed that Grey’s will move past eight seasons, there is a general sense that the show is on the decline and, coupled with the loss of Desperate Housewives at the end of the current season, there is a definite hole in the market. »

Grey’s Anatomy Boss Tabs Torchwood Captain for Gilded Lilys

8 March 2012 5:32 PM, PST | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

Shonda Rhimes’ (showrunner for Grey’s Anatomy) upcoming period drama pilot Gilded Lilys has found a fantastically good-looking leading man for the ladies to swoon over. Ladies and gentlemen, I would like to announce Gilded Lilys will play host to the marvelous talents of Captain Jack! No, not Jack Sparrow. I mean the one, the only, the immortal Jack Harkness of Doctor Who and Torchwood fame.

John Barrowman has made a name for himself playing the “I’ll have sex with anything that moves” type that is Captain Jack, and will continue to play to that strength in Gilded Lilys. He plays Julius Ashford Lily, the golden boy of the wealthy Lily family. He’s his mother’s favorite, and the women don’t mind him too much neither. Like any handsome man of means, Julius is charming when he needs to be and has no problem getting in bed with any woman he desires. »
