- Played defensive/offensive end for the National Football League's Los Angeles Rams, 1947-1951.
- Was a coach after his professional career ended with Montana State and Notre Dame, and for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Canadian Football League. Also operated a real estate business.
- Served in the Navy in the Pacific for two years during WWII.
- Attended Notre Dame where he played on their national championship football team in 1943, joined the NFL's Los Angeles Rams in 1947 for four years, and then the Philadelphia Eagles in 1952.
