Beau Willimon Running Unopposed for WGA East Presidency

House of Cards” creator Beau Willimon is running unopposed for the presidency of the Writers Guild of America East to succeed Michael Winship, who has opted not to run.

Willimon and five other incumbents won re-election to two-year terms for council seats last year. He was on the negotiating committee that reached an 11th hour deal with production companies on May 1.

“Should I be re-elected to Council, I plan to be very involved in the negotiating process,” he said last year. “Having worked for almost a decade with major film studios and having been at the forefront of launching streaming television, I have a unique on-the-ground perspective that I believe will be useful voice in making sure we remain strong as a union moving forward.”

Incumbent Vice President Jeremy Pikser and Secretary-Treasurer Bob Schneider are also running unopposed.

Taran Killam-Fronted Comedy Mating Not Moving Forward at Showtime

Taran Killam‘s relationship comedy Mating won’t be going the distance at Showtime.

The cabler has opted not to move forward with the Jason Katims-produced project, which found the Saturday Night Live alum playing a young divorcé who found himself completely unprepared for the brave new, frank and fluid world of dating and hooking up. The cast also included Jim Belushi as Killam’s onscreen dad and business partner. 

The pilot was written by Stu Zicherman (The American, The Affair).

Mating was designed as an anthology series, with each season focusing on a different protagonist’s journey through modern dating and relationships. »

Disney's Magic Camp Begins Shooting with Adam Devine and Gillian Jacobs

Production has begun on Disney's Magic Camp, a live-action comedy starring Adam Devine (Workaholics, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates, Pitch Perfect), Gillian Jacobs (Community, Girls) and Emmy and Golden Globe winner Jeffrey Tambor (Arrested Development, Transparent, The Larry Sanders Show) directed by Mark Waters (Bad Santa 2, Mean Girls). The film is shooting on locations in and around Los Angeles and is scheduled for release in 2017.

Tambor plays Roy Preston, the owner of a summer camp for aspiring young magicians and Devine is Andy, a former camper whose flailing career as a magician has forced him to return to the camp as a counselor. Also returning to the camp is Andy's former partner and current nemesis, Darkwood, played by Jacobs, who is now a successful magician.
