Afm: ‘Kung Fu Cowboy’ Takes Shot at East-West Audiences

Tiger Chen, star of “Man of Tai Chi” and “The Matrix,” will team with Danny Chan and Robin Shou in East-meets-West action movie “Kung Fu Cowboy.”

The picture, which goes into production in early 2016, was co-written by W. Earl Brown (“Deadwood,” “Bloodworth”) and Jonathan Lim (“Pali Road”). Lim will also direct and produce.

The film is a co-venture between the U.S.’s Crimson Forrest Entertainment and China’s Huace Media Group and Cuixing Media Group.

The story is a Chinese-Western genre mashup featuring a group of displaced Chinese immigrant workers who fought back against growing racial tensions and discrimination after the building of the U.S. railroads in the 1800s.

Cannes: Taiwan’s Michelle Chen Stars in Arclight’s ‘Pali Road’ (Exclusive)

Arclight Films has picked up international rights to Hawaii-set mystery thriller “Pali Road.” The film stars Taiwanese actress Michelle Chen, Jackson Rathbone (“Twilight Saga”), Sung Kang (“Fast & Furious”) and Henry Ian Cusick (“Lost”).

Written by Doc Pedrolie, Victoria Arch and Steve Peterson, “Pali Road” tells the story of a young doctor who wakes up from a car accident and discovers she is married to another man and living a life she can’t remember. The film blurs the lines between reality and fantasy.

Multilingual Chen achieved stardom with the key role in Giddens Ko’s hit “You Are the Apple of My Eye,” in 2011, and has since starred in Hong Kong hits “Golden Chickensss” and “12 Golden Ducks” and Taiwanese crossover title “Cafe. Waiting. Love.”
