Jae-woo Kim joins 13 Films

Jae-woo Kim has joined Los Angeles-based 13 Films as director of international sales and is at the Afm talking up new titles Voice From The Stone, Extortion and Loitering With Intent.

Kim (pictured) reports directly to company founder Tannaz Anisi and most recently served as international business manager at South Korean sales outfit 9ers Entertainment, where she acquired the Point Break remake and Johnny Depp adventure comedy Mortdecai.

Action title Extortion is scheduled to shoot in Puerto Rico on November 17 and stars Frank Grillo, Ving Rhames, Jake McLaughlin, Barkhad Abdi and and Nicky Whalen.

Phil Volken will direct from his screenplay about a vacationing family stranded on a Caribbean island where local fisherman hold them ransom. Volken produces Alina Shraybman.

Comedy Loitering With Intent stars Marisa Tomei and Sam Rockwell and receives its world market premiere following the world premiere in Tribeca. Adam Rapp directed the story of a beautiful woman whose unexpected arrival disrupts a writers getaway »

The Equalizer’s Marton Csokas Joins Emilia Clarke For Thriller Voice From The Stone

The wheels are beginning to fire into motion for eerie supernatural thriller Voice From The Stone, as Marton Csokas has joined Terminator: Genisys and Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke for the project.

13 Films is set to lend financial support all the while handling the international sales for the feature film, which is to be directed by Eric D. Howell, who is making his directorial debut. Voice From The Stone will be executive produced by sales agent Anisi, who spoke highly about the thriller’s premise and creative team.

“I was immediately drawn to the unique and haunting script of ‘Voice from the Stone’ and am thrilled to be partnering with established producers Dean Zanuck and Stefani Gallini-Durante on the project. Leading international sales and finance company, 13 Films, has signed on to co-finance and handle international sales on the supernatural thriller Voice from the Stone starring Emilia Clarke (HBO's Game of Thrones, upcoming Terminator Genisys) which is being produced by Dean Zanuck (Road To Perdition, Get Low) and Stefano Gallini-Durante (White Shadow, En La Caliente) and will be directed by Eric D. Howell (Ana's Playground), it was announced today by Tannaz Anisi, President of 13 Films.

Veteran sales agent Anisi will also executive produce the project which is set to start principal photography in November in Italy.

Marton Csokas (The Equalizer, The Debt, The Bourne Supremacy) has also joined the cast alongside Clarke.

13 Films will introduce the hot title to foreign buyers at the upcoming American Film Market next week. Producers will retain Us rights.

Fresh from starring in “The Equalizer,” Marton Csokas has come on board Emilia Clarke’s supernatural thriller “Voice from the Stone.”

Sales-finance company 13 Films has signed on to co-finance and handle international sales and will introduce the title to foreign buyers at the upcoming American Film Market. Producers will retain U.S. rights.

Dean Zanuck and Stefano Gallini-Durante are producing and Eric D. Howell is directing from Andrew Shaw’s script, based on Silvio Raffo’s Italian-language novel “La Voce Della Pietra.”

'Game of Thrones' Star Emilia Clarke Boards 'Voice from the Stone'

Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke has signed on to star in Voice from the Stone, an adaptation of Italian author Silvio Raffo's novel La Voce Della Pietra.

The project has been in development for several years, with Maggie Gyllenhaal signing on to star back in May 2011, although she is no longer involved. The story centers on a nurse (Emilia Clarke) in 1950s Tuscany, who helps a young boy get over the traumatic and sudden death of his mother. As she spends more time with the boy, she becomes enslaved by an evil supernatural force at his family estate.

Eric D. Howell is making his feature directorial debut with Voice from the Stone, working from an adapted screenplay by Andrew Shaw. Dean Zanuck and Stefano Gallini-Durante are producing, with Mark Wheaton serving as executive producer. Shooting is scheduled to begin in Italy this November.

Game of Thrones” star Emilia Clarke has come aboard psychological thriller “Voice From the Stone,” set to start shooting in November in Italy.

The independently financed film is being produced by Dean Zanuck and Stefano Gallini-Durante as a Zanuck Independent and Code 39 Films production with Mark Wheaton exec producing. Eric D. Howell is directing from Andrew Shaw’s script, adapted from the Italian novel “La voce della pietra” by Silvio Raffo.

It’s Clarke’s second feature film part since signing on in December for the role of Sarah Connor  in “Terminator: Genesis.”

Voice From the Stone” is set in 1950s Tuscany with Clarke portraying a nurse aiding a boy through the trauma of his mother’s sudden death.  As she works with the troubled child, she becomes ensnared by a malevolent force inside the family’s castle.

Teresa Palmer to join Point Break

Teresa Palmer is in negotiations to join Alcon Entertainment’s re-creation of the 1991 action-thriller. Lionsgate International handles international sales. Separately, Emilia Clarke from Game Of Thrones will star in Voice From The Stone.

Palmer will join previously announced Edgar Ramirez who will stars as Bodhi, played by Patrick Swayze in the original, and Luke Bracey who will portray Johnny Utah, played by Keanu Reeves in the original.

Point Break will take place in the world of international heists and extreme sports as a young FBI operative goes undercover.

Production is set to kick off on June 26 and filming will take place across four continents. Ericson Core directs from a screenplay by Kurt Wimmer.

Palmer recently starred in Lionsgate’ zombie comedy Warm Bodies and will next be seen in Terrence Malick’s Knight Of Cups. She is currently filming Triple Nine.

Amplify, Well Go find The Zero Theorem

The partners have picked up Us rights to Terry Gilliam’s sci-fi starring Christoph Waltz.

Amplify and Well Go USA will release the film in theatres across the Us in late summer with home video release to follow.

Amplify, the the all-rights distribution venture founded by GoDigital And Variance in January, will handle theatrical and digital distribution rights. Well Go USA releases the film on DVD and Blu-ray.

The Zero Theorem stars Waltz as a reclusive computer genius plagued with existential angst. Matt Damon, Mélanie Thierry, Lucas Hedges, David Thewlis and Tilda Swinton round out the cast.

Voltage Pictures handled international sales and company head Nicolas Chartier arranged financing and produced alongside Dean Zanuck.
