'Supergirl' Casts Odette Annable As Main Villain for Season 3 – See Who She's Playing!

Supergirl is getting a new big bad for season three.

Odette Annable joins The CW superhero show as villain Reign, Et has learned.

The 32-year-old actress will be a series regular and the main baddie for the upcoming third season. Reign is a Worldkiller, a biological weapon, bloodthirsty, super-powerful monster, created on Krypton by Zoe-El. In the comics, she tries to take Supergirl down and conquer Earth. The TV version of the character will have a different costume than the comic book version.

"Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Odette for years," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement. "We are beyond excited to have her join our cast in the scary, powerful and heartbreaking role of Reign."

National City has a new nemesis, it seems.

TVLine has learned that Odette Annable (Pure Genius) has closed a deal to play the power-mongering big bad known as Reign – a “Worldkiller” of the DC universe – for Supergirl season 3. The actress, best known for roles across Brothers & Sisters, House, The Astronaut Wives Club, along with the first Cloverfield movie, has now been tapped as a series regular for the show’s upcoming third season, and fans are already beginning to dream up the scenario in which Kara Zor-El will go up against Reign in the name of National City.

Word is that the Reign of Supergirl season 3 will be a fairly big departure from the comic book, visually speaking, and given the show’s second season has just bowed off the airwaves, it’ll be some time yet until we catch a glimpse of Odette Annable kitted out as the DC »

Supergirl” has set the next big bad for Season 3: Reign.

The DC Comics character will be played on the CW series by Odette Annable, Variety has learned.

Reign will be the villain of the third season, as part of an interpretation of the infamous World Killer storyline from the pages of DC Comics. Though the character is based on the comics, the costume for Annable’s TV character will be different from the DC version.

Reign — who first appeared in the New 52 reboot of DC Comics’ “Supergirl” series — is a Worldkiller akin to Doomsday, the famous Superman villain who killed the Man of Steel in 1992. She was taken as an infant by Kryptonian scientists who bestowed her new abilities. In the comics, Reign becomes an enemy of Supergirl when she arrives on Earth with the plan to conquer it. The character in the comics was created by Michael Green and Mahmud Asrar.

The Atx Television Festival announced Thursday a robust number of television panels and screenings joining its lineup of already impressive programming. John Singleton’s upcoming crack cocaine drama “Snowfall” gets the honors of being the Opening Night screening. Other FX programs that will be featured are “The Americans” and “Fargo.” Other new shows added include HBO’s “The Leftovers” and “Girls,” in addition to “The Walking Dead” on AMC.
