Exclusive Video Interview: Susan Yeagley And Parker Posey Talk Mascots

11 October 2016 6:15 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

It’s been 10 years since we’ve been treated to a deliciously quirky, fully improvised mockumentary from director Christopher Guest, but now he’s back to deliver to us the hilarious Netflix movie, Mascots.

Guest once again gathers his veteran crew of improvisers – Jane Lynch, Parker Posey, Fred Willard, Ed Begley Jr., John Michael Higgins, Bob Balaban and Jennifer Coolidge – and pairs then with a slew of newcomers like Chris O’Dowd, Susan Yeagley, Zach Woods, Sarah Baker and Tom Bennett. The results are, as you’d expect, nothing short of amazing.

Much in the same vein as Best in Show, Mascots centers on an international mascot competition and all the wacky people involved, from organizers to the judges to the contestants. In his review of the film back at Tiff, our very own Darren Ruecker concluded the following about it:

Mascots is no failure, thanks to a robust handful of quintessential Guest gags. »

The Mascots Trailer Is Here And The World Is A Little Happier

3 September 2016 10:23 AM, PDT | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

The world of film is obviously as broad and far-reaching as it could be, and no matter how much we might feel that certain films are so good that everyone should like them, people have differing tastes. I might think My Dinner with Andre is easily one of the best films there is, despite the fact that most people can’t finish it. Virtually every list of the best films ever includes Casablanca somewhere close to the top, but I agree with the cast and crew in thinking that it isn’t really anything special. Such is life.

But, if you don’t have Waiting for Guffman, or Best in Show, or both, on your list of favorite movies, I just don’t get you.

Christopher Guest‘s mockumentary films (which also include A Mighty Wind, and For Your Consideration – which are both good, but not nearly as solid) all include familiar faces, »

‘Mascots’: Watch the First Trailer for Christopher Guest’s New Mockumentary [Video]

1 September 2016 3:13 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Christopher Guest’s sense of the comically absurd returns in full force in the first trailer for Netflix’s “Mascots.”

The trailer begins with Ollie the Octopus and Tammy the Turtle performing and includes such off-the-wall assertions as “Benny the Banana Slug has a failed drug test” and Ed Begley Jr.’s character declaring, “Danny the Donkey, my mascot, was the first to have an anatomically correct costume. I was over-compensating.”

Guest, whose directing credits include “A Mighty Wind,” “Waiting for Guffman,” “Best in Show” and “For Your Consideration,” set his most recent project during the ultra-competitive 8th World Mascot Association Championships. Mascots compete for prestigious Gold Fluffy.

The cast includes regulars in Guest’s previous mockumentaries such as Jane Lynch, Parker Posey, Fred Willard, Bob Balaban and Jennifer Coolidge along with Christopher Moynihan, Don Lake, Brad Williams, Zach Woods, Chris O’Dowd, Matt Griesser, Susan Yeagley, Sarah Baker, Tom Bennett, »
