- Satsuo Yamamoto was born on July 15, 1910 in Kagoshima, Kagoshima, Japan. Satsuo was a director and writer, known for Shiroi Kyotô (1966), Fumô chitai (1976) and The Battle of Manchuria (1970). Satsuo died on August 11, 1983 in Tokyo, Japan.
- Began in films as an assistant director in 1933. As a director in post-war Japan, he was noted for his strongly anti-authoritarian films (influenced by his own wartime experiences while fighting in Manchuria). He also ran his own production company.
