One More Trailer for That Global Weather Disaster Movie 'Geostorm'

"It's worse than we thought." "Yeah, I think we've established that." Warner Bros has debuted yet another official trailer, the third one yet, for the disaster movie Geostorm, set sometime in the near future about a series of satellites that control the weather. They get weaponized and put all of humanity at risk when the weather gets out of control. This trailer is all about selling the destruction and epic scope of this movie, so get ready. Gerard Butler stars, with an oddly impressive cast including Jim Sturgess, Abbie Cornish (and why is she in this?!), Alexandra Maria Lara, Daniel Wu, with Oscar nominees Ed Harris and Andy Garcia. In all honesty, I used to enjoy these kind of epic disaster movies, but I'm just not feeling this anymore. Perhaps it's the time we're going through, perhaps this just looks terribly cheesy and forgettable. Here's the third official trailer for Dean Devlin's Geostorm,

First Tomb Raider Trailer Is One Big Video Game Easter Egg

First Tomb Raider Trailer Is One Big Video Game Easter Egg
The first trailer for the upcoming Tomb Raider reboot has arrived and it didn't necessarily blow anyone's socks off. This is just a Lara Croft teaser, but this may not be the movie that winds up saving video game movies in Hollywood. The movie does, however, clearly take into consideration that many people aren't a fan of movies ignoring the story of the games. In this case, the Tomb Raider trailer is essentially one giant Easter egg for the 2013 Tomb Raider video game.

IGN decided to do a side-by-side comparison between the new Tomb Raider teaser trailer and some of the comparable game footage from the 2013 Tomb Raider game, which served as a reboot of the game series. To say that the two share some similarities would be an understatement. Shot for shot, the trailer is taking things we saw in the game and putting them on the big screen.

Tomb Raider Featurette Unveils Alicia Vikander’s Hero In The Making

Though a PR blunder threatened to spoil the surprise, late last night, Warner Bros. and IGN dropped the high-octane first trailer for Tomb Raider, the latest video game movie adaptation to tumble off Hollywood’s production line.

But whereas previous game-to-screen renditions have strayed off the beaten path, Roar Uthaug’s starry actioner remains fairly loyal to its source material, which in this case is the rebooted Crystal Dynamics video game series that began life in 2013. Held up as a spectacular rebirth for the iconic Lara Croft – replete with cinematic set-pieces and intense survival gameplay – Warner and Uthaug are gunning for a similarly jaw-dropping take on the video game legend, even if last night’s reveal trailer left much to be desired.

A clichéd plot (“the fate of the world rests in your hands!”) coupled with uninspired special effects had some viewers questioning whether this Tomb Raider redo is even necessary,

The First Badass Trailer For Alicia Vikander's Tomb Raider Reboot Is Here

  • BuzzSugar
If you were worried about Alicia Vikander being able to fill Angelina Jolie's cargo pants in the Tomb Raider reboot, worry no more. In the brief first look at the 28-year-old Oscar winner as the titular raider of tombs, Lara Croft, Vikander seems to be holding her own as she dives off cliffs into a choppy river and dramatically slides under razor-sharp booby traps. While that might be the same song and dance we got with Jolie in the first two films, Lara's backstory is getting an update. The action film, which isn't due out until March 16, sees Lara as a 21-year-old, fiercely independent bike courier living in London on her own seven years after the disappearance of her eccentric adventurer father. She sets out to solve the mystery of his death, which involves a dangerous journey to a mythical tomb somewhere off the coast of Japan. Dominic West,

‘Tomb Raider’ Trailer: Alicia Vikander Gets into Action as Lara Croft

After winning a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Girl, Interrupted back in 2000, Angelina Jolie soon followed it up portraying Lara Croft in Tomb Raider. Now, Alicia Vikander is set to do the same. Following her win for The Danish Girl, the Ex Machina star will play the videogame heroine in a tentpole set for next spring and directed by Roar Uthaug (The Wave), and the first trailer has now landed.

“She has all the fierce, tough, curious, intelligent traits,” Vikander tells EW, “but we’ve stripped away all of her experience. She hasn’t gone on an adventure just yet. She thought he was a stuck up businessperson living in the modern youth culture of suburban London, but then this whole box of information. This is the beginning.”

First Trailer for New 'Tomb Raider' with Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft

"Her legend begins." It's time to finally meet the new Lara Croft. Warner Bros has debuted the first official trailer for the new Tomb Raider movie, based on the popular video game series about adventurer Lara Croft. Swedish actress Alicia Vikander stars as Lara Croft this time around, playing a young woman living in London who decides to travel to a mysterious island in an attempt to figure out what happened to her eccentric adventurer father. As expected, there is a tomb she'll raid and lots of other crazy things in this, including various video game-esque action scenes like swinging spiked logs and more. The full cast includes Hannah John-Kamen, Walton Goggins, Dominic West, Daniel Wu, and Alexandre Willaume. This seems like a nice follow up to WB's Wonder Woman, about another ass-kicking independent woman. I'm hoping it isn't as bad as pretty much every other video game movie, because the curse still isn't broken.

‘Tomb Raider’ Trailer & Poster Released

The reboot of ‘Tomb Raider‘ has finally released it’s first trailer! Directed by Roar Uthaug (The Wave), the trailer seems to focus heavily on the action. It’s really something that feels more akin to the more recent, action packed Tomb raider video games, rather than her early ones. The casting of Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina) seems akin to this new direction, as the film follows a younger Laura Croft this time around.

Here’s the first official trailer:

Written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Captain Marvel), the reboot also stars Dominic West, Walton Goggins, and Daniel Wu. Surely Warner Brothers is hoping that this film will be the start of a new franchise, but the trio of Vikander, Robertson-Dworet, and Uthaug all prove to be untested when it comes to these types of movies. So it’ll be interesting to see how this film plays out when it’s released.
