Warcraft director Duncan Jones, Senior VP of Story and Franchise Development Chris Metzen and VFX Supervisor Bill Westenhofer participated in the Blizzcon panel over the weekend, moderated by Nerdist’s Chris Hardwick. The trio spoke about how they went adapting a huge gaming universe into a two-hour film, and revealed that the film would attempt to tell the story of World of Warcraft giving equal weight to the human Alliance and the Horde of Orcs. “I thought it was very important that the film allowed you to be on either side of the conflict,” Jones said at the panel.
Westenhofer did not create the orcs out of green screens – actors played the creatures in motion capture – but he did transform the performances from human to Orc, »

Universal Pictures has released the first two Warcraft movie posters for director Duncan Jones’ (Moon) upcoming adaptation of the incredibly popular video game World of Warcraft. The two teaser posters were unveiled today at the WoW convention BlizzCon, and they tease the two major factions of the Warcraft world. The Alliance is made up of the mortal races in Azeroth (the literal World of Warcraft), and they are distinguished by a commitment to nobility and honor. The Horde, meanwhile, is made up of Orcs, Trolls, Goblins, etc. These two posters tease the weapons of each faction, and at Comic-Con we learned that the film will be an origin story that delves into how Azeroth fell into conflict between the orcs and humans, ie. the Alliance and the Horde. Check out the first Warcraft movie posters after the jump, and click here to see the Warcraft movie characters revealed. The film stars Travis Fimmel, »
