What It Was Like to Be Basquiat’s Lover

15 December 2014 11:45 AM, PST | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

If there is one artist who has created an almost cultlike fascination around every dimension of his life, it would be Jean-Michel Basquiat. Most of us have seen how his meteoric rise as an artist was turned into a film by Julian Schnabel, starring Jeffrey Wright as Basquiat and David Bowie as Andy Warhol. But we rarely get a more intimate glimpse into his more private domestic life. In Jennifer Clement’s book Widow Basquiat, she takes the personal narrative of her friend Suzanne Mallouk — who was a longtime lover of Basquiat’s — and weaves it into a slender and poetic novella. Mallouk moved to New York City from Ontario, Canada, on Valentine’s Day of 1980. She paired up with Basquiat shortly thereafter. And as Basquiat became the New York art scene’s enfant terrible, Suzanne served as his muse, mother, and lover, struggling to sustain the both of them. »

Speaking with MTV (via Cbm) Lawrence said, “I actually met with the director. I had dinner with him. Yeah I sure did… I will never cross the streams.”

Lawrence and Wilson are the only confirmed names for having met with Feig, but it is assumed that Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids), Melissa McCarthy (St. Vincent), Emma Stone (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and Linda Cardellini (Scooby Doo) are on the shortlist. Well, at least that was original Ghostbuster Bill Murray had on his wish list.

Source Code Sequel Planned

2 December 2014 9:01 AM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Chalk this one up under “sequels we’re not sure we saw coming”. Someone has decided to make a follow-up to Source Code, even though the story wrapped up quite neatly in Duncan Jones’s 2011 film. He’s not back for the new one (he’s a little busy polishing his giant Warcraft tentpole), so Anna Foerster is stepping in to take the reins.Nothing has been revealed about the new movie's plot. Presumably, it will spin a new tale following the project that saw Jake Gyllenhaal’s character experiencing the last eight minutes of someone else’s life during a terrorist attack on a train to try to stop the bombing. The original film’s writer, Ben Ripley, will once again be on script duty for this one, but no casting has been announced, so we don’t know if any of the original actors around Gyllenhaal – Vera Farmiga, »
