John Woodvine was born on July 21, 1929 in Tyne Dock, South Shields, England. He is an actor, known for An American Werewolf in London (1981), New Scotland Yard (1972) and Fatherland (1994). He has been married to Lynn Farleigh since 1996. He was previously married to Hazel Wright.

He graduated from RADA and became an Associate of RADA.
He was awarded the Laurence Olivier Theatre Award in 1988 (1987 season) for Best Comedy Performance for The Henrys.
He is the father of actress Mary Woodvine.
He was educated at Lord William's Grammar School and he was a former lab assistant before deciding to train for an acting career at RADA.
In August 2008, he played in Hamlet at Stratford-upon-Avon.
