It was always intended to be filmed on a lean and mean low budget, but, but that apparently hasn't precluded cashflow problems for the third Riddick movie. Some scaremongering reports a month or so ago suggested that production on Riddick 3 had shut down, but thankfully it seems just to have been a temporary technical itch, and the Furyan's night-vision is now operational again.
The reports came from Montreal studio owner Michel Trudel, who locked the production out of his facility due, he said, to some rather large unpaid bills. There was also said to be some griping from similarly afflicted crew members.
Thankfully though, the line of credit has been restored. The various reports this morning are not naming the production's mysterious benefactor, although Vin Diesel made sure to give some props to Universal when he posted some artwork on his Facepage a couple of months ago.

Nothing is coming easy to Vin Diesel and David Twohy when it comes to making another Riddick movie. After years of development and teases, the star and writer/director finally began production on the sequel to Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick a few months ago but had to stop in the middle of shooting because they ran out of money. A new report says that problem has been solved, however. More money has been raised and filming will resume after Christmas. Read more after the jump. TMZ (via Collider ) broke this news and states that Riddick was shooting in Montreal in late October when the cast and crew were locked out because the owner of the studio hadn't been paid. Now, however, those debts have been paid and production will reportedly restart on December 28. Running out of money isn't an uncommon occurrence for independently produced features. It just so happens that, »

While production picks back up in Montreal, Bloody Disgusting has been digging for the full cast of David Twohy's Riddick, the third film in the trilogy that will star Vin Diesel and Karl Urban. We have exclusively reported that Andreas Apergis, Katee Sackhoff (White Noise 2: The Light, Growl, The Haunting in Georgia), Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall, Devil) and WWE wrestler Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption) have all been given offers. Add Matthew Nable to the list as "Boss Johns". Apergis would play "Krone", commander of the dark theocracy. Sackhoff would pay "Dahl", a Nordic merc tracking Riddick. We've also learned that there's strong interest in both Cliff Curtis and Holt McCallany as "Santana" and "Vargas", respectively. »
Back in October, actor Vin Diesel revealed Riddick was nearing the start of production, although the sequel was shut down weeks later because of cash flow issues. Now it seems all has been resolved, and Riddick will resume shooting on December 28.
Michel Trudel, who owns the Montreal studio where Riddick was shooting, booted the cast and crew off the set when Vin Diesel's production company, One Race Films, fell behind on payments to the studio. Now Michel Trudel says the production company has paid up, and he will allow the sequel to continue production. It isn't known if the production company took on a new financing partner for Riddick, or where the new funds came from.
David Twohy is directing Riddick from his own screenplay. Vin Diesel returns as the title character, and Karl Urban reprises his Vaako role from The Chronicles of Riddick. We reported last month that Katee Sackhoff, »
Vin Diesel has been all too happy to share tidbits of information and concept art from the upcoming Riddick, but production on the sequel was halted when the production company ran out of money, and couldn't pay the owner of the Montreal studio where filming was underway. However, TMZ [via CinemaBlend] is reporting that the movie has secured new financing, paid off its debt, and that filming is set to resume on December 28th. As we previously reported, Riddick is trying to keep costs more along the lines of Pitch Black in order to maintain an R-rating and (hopefully) have an easier time of turning a profit. 2004's The Chronicles of Riddick flopping at the box office sent the franchise into stasis (although they were able to squeeze out the video game Assault on Dark Athena in 2009). Hopefully, the production won't have to worry about being shut down again. David Twohy's »

Katee Sackhoff has been offered the role of Dahl, a mercenary tracking Vin Diesel's title character, and Andreas Apergis was offered Krone, the commander of an evil theocracy. It isn't known what roles Bokeem Woodbine and Dave Bautista are up for. We reported last month that Karl Urban is returning as Vaako, a role he played in The Chronicles of Riddick.
David Twohy is directing Riddick from his own screenplay. Last month, Vin Diesel revealed shooting was slated to begin shortly, although this new report indicates production has been shut down for now.
It looks like there might be some new cannon fodder joining the cast of Riddick as Battlestar Galactica alumni Katee Sackhoff, along with a few others, are offered the opportunity to have their butts kicked by Vin Diesel.
It’s been seven years since bad boy Riddick graced the big screen with his presence in The Chronicles of Riddick (God, I feel old) but the chrome-dome with the freaky eyes is finally making his triumphant return to the theater, and the casting machine is hard at work with bringing in fresh meat to square off against everyone’s favorite anti-hero in Universal Pictures’ Riddick.
According to the peeps at Bloody Disgusting, Katee Sackhoff, who seems unable to catch a break since playing Starbuck on BSG, has been approached to play Dahl, a Nordic mercenary tracking Riddick. Considering the average lifespan of people that track Riddick, »

Louis Leterrier's magician heist movie Now You See Me keeps getting better. The movie features a story about a group of illusionists who rob banks during their performances, and then give at least some of the proceeds out to the audience, even as the FBI is hot on their tail. The cast already includes Mark Ruffalo, Jesse Eisenberg, Morgan Freeman, Isla Fisher, Melanie Laurent, Woody Harrelson and Dave Franco, and now Michael Caine has signed on to play Arthur Tressler, the sponsor of the illusionists. The film will be released on January 18, 2013, and unless we see a trailer that looks simply horrible, Now You See Me will be high on our list of anticipated popcorn movies until that date arrives. [Moviehole ] After the break, Olivia Wilde and Steve Buscemi join the cast of another magician film, Burt Wonderstone, while Vin Diesel and David Twohy continue to try and perfect the »

Back in September, we brought you the news about Karl Urban (Dredd, Star Trek), who portrayed Vaako, the villainous Necromonger Commander in 2004′s The Chronicles of Riddick returning with Vin Diesel for the third installment of David Twohy‘s franchise.
Now, B-d reports that Bokeem Woodbine (Total Recall) and the always lovely and super-cool Katee Sackhoff (Longmire, Growl) have been offered roles in the forthcoming Riddick sequel. While no information was available on Woodbine’s role, its said that Sackhoff would portray “Dahl”, a Nordic merc tracking Riddick.
In addition to Woodbine and Sackhoff, the site reports that Andreas Apergis (Durham County) and WWE wrestler Dave Bautista (The Scorpion King 3: Battle for Redemption) have also been offered roles in the film.

Total Recall Colin Farrell, Jessica Biel Set Videos. The Total Recall (2012) set videos feature Colin Farrell, Jessica Biel from the Len Wiseman directed film on set in Toronto, Canada. Total Recall will feature flying cars and in the set videos the viewer sees how they will be used in the upcoming scifi film. Total Recall‘s plot synopsis: “As the nation states Euromerica and New Shanghai vie for supremacy, a factory worker (Farrell) begins to suspect that he’s a spy, though he is unaware which side of the fight he’s on.”
I can’t say I am really looking forward to this remake. The best part of the original Total Recall for me, besides the violence, was the few brief times Hauser (Arnold Schwarzenegger) appeared on screen and The Agency sub-plot. I hope there is more Hauser and The Agency in this version.
