Jackie Chan & Johnny Knoxville in Action Comedy 'Skiptrace' Trailer

Saban Films has debuted the official trailer for an action comedy called Skiptrace, starring Jackie Chan and Johnny Knoxville as the comedy duo. I thought Jackie Chan was done making these kind of movies? I guess not. Chan plays Hong Kong detective Benny Chan who reluctantly joins forces with American gambler Connor Watts to take down the drug lord who murdered his partner. This definitely looks cheesy, there's no doubt about that, but hopefully some of the action is entertaining otherwise what's the point of even making these kind of movies anymore. The full cast includes Fan Bingbing, Eric Tsang, Eve Torres, Winston Chao and Michael Wong. I'm not even sure if this is worth seeking out at all, but give it a shot to start. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Renny Harlin's Skiptrace, direct from YouTube: Fists and feet are flying in this explosive action-comedy starring Jackie Chan and Johnny Knoxville.

Crush of the week: Kelvin Yu

‘This is me asking Hollywood to begin giving Kelvin Yu the roles his face deserves. Enough with the stereotypical bit parts’

About five minutes into the second episode of the new Netflix sitcom, Master Of None, a tall drink of water called Brian appeared on screen. I’m using old-timey speak only because these were old-timey attributes in front of me: handsome in that clean, classic way, a lovely deep voice, and thick black hair, styled into submission in a low side parting. I had to find out more.

A quick internet scour gave me a sketchy bio: his name is Kelvin Yu, he’s Taiwanese American, and he’s been in Hollywood a long time (and not just because he’s actually from Los Angeles). How could I have missed him? It turned out I’d seen him before: there he is in two brief scenes in Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip

Stars: Andy On, Jessica Cambensy, Michael Wong, Terence Yin, Abby Fung, Jack Kao, Han Chang, Heng-yin Chou, Sharon Hsu, Philip Ng, Chi Zhang, Kwok Cheung Tsang, Candy Ka-Man Yuen | Written and Directed by Joe Chien

A sequel to Joe Chien’s zombie horror-cum-torture porn flick, Zombie 108, Zombie Fight Club sees Andy (Andy On) and Jessica (Jessica Cambensy) – real originality in naming your characters there – escaping a zombie overrun apartment block in the corner of near-future devastated Taipei city (as seen in the original film). In the midst of this zombie holocaust, with all social structures on the brink of collapse, contaminated drugs cause hordes of rappers and strippers to become infected and join the aggressive flesheaters. When a Swat team arrives on the scene, it seems the cavalry have arrived, but they only want the stash of drug cash…

2012′s Zombie 108 was something of a cause célèbre within the horror community.

Z Storm (2014) Movie Review

Hong Kong thrillers have been lifting their game of late, with the likes of “Cold War” and “Firestorm” combining big budget action, star power and contemporary political and social concerns to generally solid effect. “Z Storm”, the first film in many years from veteran director David Lam (“First Shot”) is the latest to try and emulate their success, featuring Louis Koo (“Overheard”) fighting against corruption and financial intrigue in the form of Michael Wong (“Firestorm”), Gordon Lam (“Cold War”) and others, with Dada Chan (“Vulgaria”) on hand in the usual token female role. The plot revolves around the activities of Hong Kong’s Independent Commission Against Corruption (Icac) and its investigations into profiteering and misbehaviour in the police force. Louis Koo plays Icac senior investigator William Luk, the film opening with him investigating a case of extortion involving Ccb (Commercial Crime Bureau) Superintendent Wong Man Bin (Gordon Lam). Nu Image Poised For Hong Kong ‘Delete’ Remake

Nu Image is in advanced negotiations to acquire remake rights to Hong Kong-made comedy drama “Delete My Love.”

Directed by Patrick Kong, the film is produced and distributed by China 3D Digital Entertainment, which previously produced scandalous hit movie “3D Sex and Zen.”

“Delete” tells the story of an ordinary guy who receives a text message promising him the ability to delete from his life the people he dislikes, on condition that he forward the message on to another person. He soon discovers that deleting people and replacing them with supposedly better folk does not necessarily make him happier.

The pic had a private screening at the Hong Kong FilMart in March and debuted last week on local release in Hong Kong.

Opening midweek against the record-breaking “The Amazing Spider Man 2,” “Delete” managed a modest first day box office score of Hk$200,000 (Us$25,800) and a six day score to Monday

Pegasus Rides in With ‘Z Storm,’ ‘Ip Man 3′

Pegasus Rides in With ‘Z Storm,’ ‘Ip Man 3′
Pegasus Motion Pictures on Monday (March 24) took the wraps off its big budget crime thriller “Z Storm,” which is set for summer release.

The company, formed in 2009 by Raymond Wong after he broke away from Mandarin Films, also updated plans for the much anticipated “Ip Man 3.”

Directed by David Lam, “Z Storm” starts as a simple enough police corruption investigation, but takes on political connotations when investigators unearth a massive financial fraud.

Significantly, it portrays the Icac, Hong Kong’s 40-year-old anti-corruption body, in a three-way conflict among the police and the government. “This is fiction, not reality,” says producer John Chong, “and is different to the TV series that the Icac funded.” (The Icac’s four-decade-long role in funding film and TV production in Hong Kong is being celebrated this month by the Hong Kong Intl. Film Festival.) However, Chong likens the pacing and feel of the film to Fox’s U.
