God’s Not Dead 2 review: “Plot that panders to its core audience.”

27 April 2016 11:39 PM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

God’s Not Dead 2 review: Sequel to a surprise hit that is confidently Christian, even if it isn’t very good. God’s Not Dead 2 review

Does a non-believer have any place reviewing an unapologetically Christian movie? It’s a good question, with the result being that God’s Not Dead 2 is critic-proof. Like the big budget blockbusters protected by franchise links, you already know if you’re going to see this. However, I have no bias against films that employ faith or religious aspects. Ben-Hur and The Passion Of The Christ being fantastic pieces of work. What should be an issue, to all moviegoers, is when a film is this unintentionally funny and mawkish. A sequel to the surprise hit, but following a different cast in the lead roles, God’s Not Dead 2 takes a timely subject matter (for the Us at least), and squanders it on a plot »

The trailer for what has to be one of the most anticipated DC animated movies of all time, Batman: The Killing Joke, has finally hit the web and can be viewed at the top.

Based on the classic 1988 graphic novel by the superstar creative team consisting of writer Alan Moore and artist Brian Bolland, The Killing Joke is widely considered to be one of the most definitive examinations of the Batman/Joker dynamic, in addition to being one of the greatest Batman stories to ever be told in the comic book medium. Not only did it feature some shocking imagery causing the book to be recommended for mature readers, but it also provided a detailed origin for The Joker and happened to be the story in which he paralyzed Barbara Gordon.

Speaking of which, viewers can look forward to seeing a prologue of sorts in the animated movie, as the »

DC’s First Animated R goes to Batman: The Killing Joke

20 April 2016 3:01 PM, PDT | Comicmix.com | See recent Comicmix news »

Burbank, CA – Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has accepted the MPAA’s “R” rating for its upcoming animated film, Batman: The Killing Joke, choosing to remain true to the landmark DC Comics graphic novel’s violent, controversial story, and making the film the first non-pg/PG-13 rated movie in the nine-year history of the DC Universe Original Movie franchise.

Batman: The Killing Joke, one of the best-selling graphic novels in history, tells the tale of The Joker’s origin story – from his humble beginnings as a struggling comic, to his fateful encounter with Batman that changes both of their lives forever. Actors Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill reprise their Batman: The Animated Series roles as Batman and The Joker, respectively.

Since its inception in 2007, the DC Universe Original Movie franchise has brought classic and current DC Comics stories and characters to animated life through a series of primarily PG-13 rated films. »

'Batman v Superman' Wins Weekend #2 at the Box Office with $52.3M

3 April 2016 2:44 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

When most movies open with huge box office numbers on their opening weekend, they typically drop a significant amount in their second weekend. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice was no different in its second frame in theaters, dipping a massive 68.4% but still remaining atop the box office with $52.3 million, according to the estimates from Box Office Mojo. There were only two new releases opening in theaters, God's Not Dead 2 and Meet the Blacks, but neither came close to surpassing Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Last weekend, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice surpassed its own expectations, taking in $166 million domestically and $424 million worldwide, the best global debut for any superhero movie in history. Still, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice didn't fare well with critics. The superhero movie continues to drop on Rotten Tomatoes, currently standing at a 28% Rotten rating, but the audience score is still overwhelmingly positive, »
