Point Break remake trailer!

9 hours ago | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

So, Point Break has been remade. We all thought that it might just be a bad dream, but it looks like thry’ve actually gone and done it. The star-power is somewhat limited in this remake of the classic Patrick Swayze/ Keanu Reeves original (which was released in the summer of 1991), with former Home and Away actor Luke Bracey playing the role of undercover FBI agent Johnny Utah (originally played by Reeves) and Édgar Ramírez (The Bourne Ultimatum, Wrath Of The Titans) playing renegade extreme sports athlete Bodhi (originally played by the late, great Patrick Swayze). These are two potential star-making turns for the undoubtably talented actors. Oh, and for some serious character acting support, the likes of Ray Winstone (Noah), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies) and Delroy Lindo (Ransom) are in the film too.

The original movie largely revolved around surfing and skydiving, but this new version adds to that »

Point Break remake: first trailer and poster

10 hours ago | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

The first trailer for the remake of Point Break, starring Edgar Ramirez and Luke Bracey...

In all the time we've been running Den Of Geek, it would be fair to say that Point Break has been comfortably one of the least popular remake stories we've ever run (well, that and Naked Gun). It would be fair to say that the new take on the Keanu Reeves and Patrick Swayze-headlined original has not gone down well.

However, you never know, the film itself might turn out to be a treat. We've got here, at the very least, a first glimpse of it to see how it's shaping up.

The new Point Break stars Luke Bracey, Edgar Ramirez, Ray Winstone, Teresa Palmer and Delroy Lindo, with Ericson Core directing this time around. KAthryn Bigelow, of course, helmed the first movie.

The official synopsis? "A young FBI agent, Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey »

Watch: First Trailer for 'Point Break' Remake Starring Luke Bracey

"There are some who do not fear death, for they are more afraid of not really living." Warner Bros has debuted the first trailer for Ericson Core's Point Break remake, a new take on the cult favorite action heist movie from 1991 directed by Kathryn Bigelow, that starred Keanu Reeves. This new version is much, much cheesier and doesn't even look like it really pays homage to that film anyway. Luke Bracey plays Johnny Utah, and the guy he's after this time is played by Edgar Ramirez. The rest of the cast includes Teresa Palmer, Ray Winstone, Matias Varela and Clemens Schick. I wish I could say all this extreme action looks exciting, but it's wrapped around such cheesy dialogue, I can't help saying this looks pretty bad. Enjoy. Here's the first official trailer for Ericson Core's Point Break remake, direct from WB's YouTube: In this fast-paced, high-adrenaline action thriller Point Break, »

Point Break Remake Trailer Dives into the World of Extreme Sports

17 hours ago | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Warner Bros. and Alcon Entertainment have released the first Point Break trailer for director Ericson Core’s (Invincible) upcoming remake of Kathryn Bigelow’s 1991 film of the same name. The redo stars Luke Bracey as Johnny Utah, a young FBI agent who infiltrates a team of thrill-seeking athletes led by the charismatic Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez). There's a strong Fast & Furious vibe that permeates throughout this trailer, which is more than a little ironic considering A. the first F&F film was essentially a remake of the original Point Break and B. This remake's director Ericson Core was the director of photography on The Fast and the Furious. Where the two differ, however, is that Warner Bros. seems to be taking a gravely serious tone with Point Break, to the point that there are quite a few lines delivered in earnest here that come off as incredibly cheesy. 25 mainly forgotten Us number 1 movies from the 2000s

Kevin Spacey, Steven Seagal and, erm, Kangaroo Jack: they all nabbed the box office top spot last decade...

By the end of the 2000s, getting number one at the American box office was a valuable marketing commodity. As such, studios pumped more and more money into making sure they at least had a great opening weekend for their product.

The consequence of this was that it was harder and harder for smaller and quirkier films to take a brief spot in the sun. Certainly towards the second half of the decade, it seems that the number one movie each week was pre-ordinained in a marketing meeting somewhere.

Still, there were some films that have since fallen out of public view that clawed their way to number one. How many of these do you remember?
